Our '08 Equinox Sport has the type of shifter you describe as Pontiac only. But you slide it over to the Left not the right.

I'd prefer this type in my Camaro.
Really? I drove the Equinox sport and I don't recall seeing that. I'll take you at your word and stand corrected.

The interior is really taking shape well. I just hope a little bit more color is added in places, it looks slightly...bland.

Overall.... Impressed with the simplicity of the interior.

I agree with that. So many times the manufacturers try to cram so much whiz-bang gadgetry buttons in an interior (coughBWMcoughAccordcough) that it makes operating the car more difficult. The Honda Fit is the leader here. It has a large amount of features for an entry level car, but the interior is as intuitive and clean as it gets. The Camaro's isn't as simple as that, but for the features we'll likely get it is looking pretty good.

I hope they also include a plain jane door key. When I go swimming I always need a spare door key to put into your trunk secure pocket and or tie string on it as well.

If both keys are the bigger ones show early in this thread it's gonna be a hassle to stash.

I own a Toyota Prius which uses the smart keys, and I have rented many other vehicles that also use the smart feature. There is a single door key hidden inside the smart key, that is supposed to be used if for some reason the smart lock doesn't work, like if the battery in the key is dead. This small key is easily removed and stashed in a pocket, etc.

The other problem could be if they use the system like on the 2005 mustang. The key's have a microchip inside the key. You can get a copy made of the key at homedepot, but the copy wont work due to the missing chip. I dont know how these keys will do submerged in water............
