Vortech ysi ??
Anyone running one of these on the street with a cog drive? If so, how are the belts holding up? I may be looking to go this route before the summer is over. How much RWHP do they make on 93 octane with LT headers and a tune? Any info would be great. Thanks.

RWHP will depend on boost, motor, cam, etc. Anywhere from 500-1100 depending on the setup. For just LT and a tune it is way oversized. A Ysi is a 800-1100rwhp blower. If you aren't building the motor and drivetrain I would get something else.

I was looking to start out with say 600 RWHP and have some room to grow with the unit. I don't want to be maxed out and not be able to turn the wick up. Since the LS3 is new, I'm not looking to tear it down anytime soon. If I ever do, I will do a new rotating assembly with forged pistons.

I'm running a ysi with a cog drive on a street car with an M6. No issues at all with the drive other than something got between the crank cog and the belt and caused the belt to come apart in the middle and gouged the cog. I dremeled down the sharp spots and luckily had an extra belt on hand. No problems since.
I made 825rwhp/639tq with it on 93 octane. Since that dyno run, I installed meth as just a safety feature, a cam speced for the engine, and pullied down the blower. I went from 15.xx lbs of boost to right at 20# of boost. I don't know what it makes now but it is noticably more powerful. I am guessing around 900rwhp but will dyno it soon. I am running a procharger 77T crank cog with a 27T blower pulley. Before, I was running a 75T crank and 32T blower pulley. I also paired it with the BV57 blowoff valve too. There is nothing stealth about my setup. If you have any other questions, PM me as I often forget to check threads I have posted in. Oh, the cog setup sounds badass too... |

With a wastgate and boost controller yes but he doesn't have one so pulley swap will regulate boost.

If you are wanting to turn it up in the future, you will need a wastegate and boost controller to keep it down in the meantime. |

Ok thanks. Back in the late 90's I ran a D1 on a SBC and was maxed out @ 16 psi. I was looking to make more power and that was all she had. Just don't want the same thing to happen.

T-trim, Ti-trim, D1SC, Paxton 1500, or just do turbos would all be a better choice.

I have the Ysi on right now with a lack of supporting mods. I WILL build the motor this winter though. My boost and dyno numbers are still unknown. Just been DDing it with an occasional pull for now. Not allowed to finish my build til I have enough money to buy my wife a bike.. lol.

The Vortech V3 is a killer little blower it can put out more then a stock LS3 can handle. Headers and a 3.33 pulley will put you at 600rwhp. The brackets will let you swap in a V7(YSi) if you decide to forge the motor later.
BUT ECS has a very nice set up with the NOVI 1500 that will also take the V7(YSi). ECS uses a Restricter plate on the base setup that lets it build a lot of boost in the lower RPMs to give a more HP/Torque down low but keeps it from over boosting the stock motor at high RPMs. |
