E85

Can I start running e85 in my car or do I need a tune ? Not sure if the stock injectors or fuel pump can handle it. The best fuel we have here is 91 Octane otherwise, and from what I hear, e85 will also help with heatsoak.

I have a rotofab on now, but will be installing a 9.55 or 10" lower along with ID850's and a tune next summer.

Adm performance did a write up on e85 in a zl1. They had there own setup for this. Do a search on it. Made awesome power. Just search adm zl1 e85 test.

On a stock car, the injectors and pump should be fine with E85. You should still datalog or put the car on a dyno to verify.
But no, E85 doesn't affect heatsoak at all.
Modded....needs a tune and more pump.

With the mods, would the boost pump work, or would the original need to be replaced ?

I'm thinking replaced. Almost positive of it.
Here's the thread that smokum was referring to: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=274664
Andy should be able to help you with getting the right parts to go E85 on your ZL1.

Imagine this fuel system setup and install with ID1300 injectors and a flex fuel conversion and tune. Expensive, but all the E85 fuel anybody would ever need and it would automatically adjust to the change in E85 mixtures throughout the year without needing multiple tunes.

If E85 were more available where I'm at I would already have had Andy done this. Closest pump to me is 30 minutes.

Attached trends of french ZL1 Flex fuel E85.
+73HP / +52NM.

I'm looking for the best type of sparks to be used with E85 ?
Is spark iridium type mandatory in ZL1 with E85 ?

Stock injectors won't work for long because the ethanol will corrode them. Whatever injector you decide to go with make sure it has stainless steel inners. Any Injector Dynamics model will have S.S inners
Stock pump will be fine up to low-mid 600whp on e85, then it will need a BAP or complete upgrade

Every car and dyno is different, so don't expect 70hp gains like above. It is possible but I've seen 30-50hp gain more often.

Ex: My car only picked up 26hp but picked up tons of torque everywhere in the power band, +40tq in some areas
