Coloring a MagnaCharger.....???
I guess this is the right section. Was going to put it in the cosmetic section but need some of the physical experts to weigh in. Found another thread but it was for new buys.
If I wanted to powdercoat or paint my Maggie Orange how would I do it? Would powdercoating make it hold too much heat? Would it have to be taken apart? (which is a no go at this station) Can it even be done now? |

I think PC it right now would be a royal pain in the ass. Go get some high temp paint and see if that works. |

You may be right about painting it. But I'd be scared as hell to try it myself. If it didn't work what a screw up that would be. Quote:

I've seen a yellow one before, I'd call up Magnuson and ask them, they should be able to give you a straight answer

It's a fairly ruff casting so i don't think you would have much to worry about. With some light coats you should be fine. I got the same idea about doing mine yellow after seeing the maggy install video floating around with the red one.

Mine is painted to match with factory IOM paint just put an ouce of high temp additive in with the paint mix no problem. Don't mind the broken Jack Shaft as that is out at Magnuson being fixed very early model maggie issue only no worries!

I was going to try it but my local powder coater said I would have to remove the wrinkle black coating (Pain in the ass) I agree with the high heat rattle can appraoch.

Pretty sure they coat before machining at the factory. For something like that I would recommend paint versus potentially causing even the smallest amount of warping next to rotors turning at over 15k rpm. Something that size/weight needs to stay in the oven for a while, probably 45 minutes to get it to 400 all the way through for the necessary cure time.

That's awesome. Going to guess that's not a rattle can job. Brush? Pro sprayed? DIY?
