Solo High Flow Cats

So I pulled the trigger on SOLO high flow "converters". Bought them from PhastekPerformance and used the Camaro5 coupon code.

They arrived today and I had the stock cats off before the package even arrived (I tracked it every single day and knew it was coming today).

The removal of the stock cats went pretty smoothly for the most part, after a trip to Advance Auto to pick up more extensions and a 15mm socket for 1/2in drive. What I did notice was the rear O2 sensors, to take apart the plug, the tab is designed to break and did..... so zip-tie on the install. Also the DYI thread on here, the front O2 sensor plugs are reversed from what the DYI says. I started out with taking the bolts off the header/cat and then did the O2 sensors (rear then front) and then the V-band clamp.

For the install I put the O2 extenders in and transferred the sensors to the SOLO cats and bolted everything up opposite the way I took them off.

The first start up, lets just say I now know why CornerSpeed was giggling at the end of the one videos he posted after the JBA high flow cats he installed. CEL never came on at all.......so far, fingers crossed. The NPP sounds so mean and awesome now......not that it didn't before. As far as power goes, I don't really notice an increase at all but the sound is amazing. I had an ear to ear grin the entire time I was driving. Worth the money for sure.

I do notice a rattle now that was not there before, I pulled all the tabs on the v-clamps back away from the exhaust. That was part of it but not all of it, I'm thinking heat shield now.

Video(s) upon request.

Agreed. The point of getting the Solo HFC's is to avoid voiding your warranty with a tune.

If you're going to get a tune anyway, there's no reason not to get long tubes.

Sometimes it takes a while to say WTF. I put DT shorties and Solos on my 2010 SS because I didn't want to void my warranty. 3 months later I said WTF and tuned it anyway. It put down 405/407 on a Dynojet with those and CAI/scoop. Mild tune took it to 417/419

So the rattle is an exhaust leak where the passenger side cat connects to the V-clamp. I started the car up and took a peek under and noticed fluid spraying from there.

Edit: Exhaust leak fixed. Will post a video either tomorrow or some time Monday

Keep us posted(especially me)i have been having Cel's Just yesterday one popped up. I have tried most everything...i think, the latest was to put steel wool in the extender, i went almost 3 weeks. I didn't want to deal with Cel's, but the sound is just so perfect looks like im going to have to cause there is no way im taking these baby's off.

You do not have the SOLOS though, right? Everyone I have talked to with SOLOS have had zero CEL's. Just cehcking because I plan on putting these SOLOS on as well in a few months.

JBA and Solo are competing brands.

Please post video's!!

Also did you have to cut any part of the exhaust to get the stock cats out? Or was it just a matter of unbolting and unclamping?

Thanks.

Correct, but you don't have SOLO BRAND. That is what I was referring too. Those that have SOLO BRAND have not had CEL issues.
