Whats up with GM?
I am a direhard GM guy and was so excited at the inception of the 5th gen, now 3 years later I am left feeling disappointed..............
I remember when I bought my '10 SS back in may 2009 I was so excited, there was little to no real world data on them and I had high hopes. I remember the realization sinking in of under performing L99s and the fact that the 5th gen really was no faster than the 4th gen. Magazine tests at the time favored the 2010 Mustang GT with the track pack, then the 2011 5.0 came out and the 5 gen was playing second fiddle. GM did nothing to answer ford, not even a dealer add on package. Now after 3 years of Z28 talk we have the ZL1 which fbodfather and Al O. talked about like it was the second coming, the numbers are in and again its second fiddle................... The 13' GT500 numbers are in and its trapping 129mph! The ZL1 has yet to trap 120mph I am willing to bet after all this talk of track times that the GT500 will dominate there too :( Everyones still in denial hoping its still in "break in" mode , the reality is the GT500 is a superior car, superior to the point its taking aim at GMs flagship sports car , it could care less about the Camaro, it already has the GT and Boss to beat it............... For decades the Camaro was superior to the Mustang, whats happened GM??? I understand performance is a small part of cars and the average joe cares more about cup holders than quarter miles but to people like myself this is heartbreaking. The Camaro is no longer about the horsepower and performance it once was (I understand the current gen is the most powerful Camaro ever, speaking in relative terms) , its a novelty

For a GM man that was quite the blue oval fanboy rant.
Also, let's not forget something. The mustang is both Ford's Camaro and their corvette. |

GM has always been known to come to the party late and with less. They do put ther stuff in a pretty package tho. Id rather be seen in a slow Camaro than a fast Pony......

Personally I'm more interested in a car that can track well, going in a straight line for 12 seconds gets boring IMO. |

^^^ plus one on that, seems like everyone has a stang, too many around. But the camaro, much classier and sleeker looking than ANY mustang will ever be. Enjoy your camaro for what it is..

Commits weekly crime
|
You do know that the ZL1 was built for the track. The CURVY track.
Yes, the GT500 has better power to weight, and will do better in the 1/4 mile. That wasn't what the ZL1 was designed for. If Ford ever decides to release some track times for it at some place like Nurburgring...then let's talk. Ford has tested there, and have been silent as far as numbers.

I know a rumor is a rumor until confirmed but the hp rumors and 1/4 / trap rumors on the car turned out even better once confirmed

There will always be cars that are faster, or slower.... not to mention those who decide to do extreme mods... so in the end there are two choices, enjoy the car you have, or embark on the never ending journey of trying to find and purchase the ultimate performance car... Oh, there is a 3rd choice, if you have the money, build your own one of a kind performance vehicle...

meh... the Camaro looks better, period. Inside AND out. And if it isn't fast enough, I'll just throw money at it!
And this is the first time I've heard of the C4's being just as fast as the C5's? I've never looked into it, but doesn't sound right? Preliminary investigation does not agree with this... |

4th generation Camaro/Firebirds are very close to 5th gens in straight line performance due to the added weight of the 5th gens

So easy to love Camaros

Unless you live at the track, all this doesn't matter. Just knowing you're driving the coolest looking car on the road is. WORD!
