How many HP from GM performance parts?

I'm making plans to order a 2011 Camaro next year, and wonder if anyone has any horsepower figures for the factory dealer-installed performance parts...airbox/intake, shorty headers, low-restriction exhaust. I know aftermarket parts are coming out, but if I can get a real performace boost from dealer-installed parts and keep my warranty solid, I'd be interested in that path.

The only you parts listed that are out is the exhaust, no numbers on the other stuff because no release of it yet.

I just had the GM Performance Exhaust installed and CAI (Hennesy) and the Dyno had me 344 HP at the rear wheels (V8). Hope this helps

As far as your warrenty is concerned, I checked with GM about using their parts and they told me I had to check with my dealer. they felt my warrenty might be improvised. I said even if I used GM parts and they said yes. Check with the dealer before you do any mods. Me I rolled the dice and did some changes. Good Luck

That would be total BS if GM did not force dealers to honor warranty repairs if a GM performance part was installed. I mean when you get a warranty repair, doesn't the dealer just charge GM for the parts and labor anyway? Why would the dealer not do work under the warranty if it'll just get them more money (for labor costs)?

Can somebody explain how the warranty system works in regards to the dealer and GM?

I sure wish Motorhead Messiah, Jonathan Goodwin was workin' for GM or was able to make a bolt on kit for us.

Increasing horse power while increasing gas milage was his thang!

Can you imagine 600hp and 60mpg?

I think I would even get in my Camaro and back it down my drive way just to get my mail

I bought my car and had the high performance exhaust installed even before I took the car.

My dealer told me that GM Performance parts installed by them will not void the warranty. In fact they told me that by installing the exhaust at time of purchase, the exhaust then becomes part of the new car and is covered under the factory waranty terms. Just food for thought...

There are TWO schools of thought, the GM side where you can only add GM parts so you do not void the warranty and the other school that voids your warranty if you add a K&N filter. The GM parts do not stress the engine or the rest of the power train, because the engineers test everything to be sure that nothing stresses the warranty, so how can the GMPP parts add any HP or torque? The aftermarket manufacturers are trying to destroy your engine and drive train by adding HP and Torque, which of course voids your warranty, So by the logic of the GM is the only one on this site, you must only add GM parts because they will not void your warranty, OR add HP and Torque, because we know that will void your warranty.

Huh...that means WITH the add-ons your crank HP would have been about 404.7 or so.

So does that mean your engine was putting out less than the advertised HP or that the aftermarket parts were giving you far less than advertised?

Look I'm not big on machanics. The guy who ran the dyno on my car told me at the rear wheels it was putting out 344hp, but at the engine it was 400hp. Does this sound right to you? He said most poeple think the rear wheels should be putting out 400 hp as advertised. I'm a little confused here. Any help? Educate me, is my car greatly underperforming or is my machanic right. I have the dyno print out. The garage that did the work is very, very repretable. They work on very high end vettes, as well as other cars and they just pumped up a 2010 Camaro with a blower/headers etc. and it sound awesome. Thanks for all the info.

344 is right in the ballpark for those mods...
If you've ever run 87 octane or suspect your dealer filled up with 87 you might check the ECM reset Thread... It's a Sticky...
