22in rims? Whats your opinion?
I really like the look of the stock rims on the camaro's i found these and was really thinking they looked awesome. ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...T#ht_784wt_825 ) I like the look of the 22s but my buddy at the chevy dealership says they would be a killer of power. do any of you that have 22's see much difference? I have a 1" drop on my camaro now and was just looking for any advice i can get.

i also love the look of 22s. and the stock 22 stock rims is a great choice! but yes they will make your car slower. not sure buy how much. i remember PQ was talking about this one time. but the fact that they can take away performance in away way i refuse to buy it on a performance car.

They will slow you down. No way around it. Won't grab the pavement as well and lose you power.
.2 in the quarter mile type slower.... IF you get them to hook. 22" = Slower Simple as that. |

From a style perspective I like the pattern but I don't like how much I've seen 22 inchers fill out the wheel wells of the Camaro. I think the 18 to 20 range is perfect for how the Camaro body is designed. Call me old fashioned but bigger isn't always better IMO.

IMHO, 22" wheels look better on the car than smaller wheels, but they do have their drawbacks. They don't hook as well as smaller wheels and they make you feel the road more. There isn't as much rubber (sidewall) between the wheel and the road to absorb shocks and you feel every bump. Also less sidewall means there isn't as much "give" in the rubber to help you hook.
22s for show 18s (or 17s if you can find some that fit) for go. 20s are a compromise. |

If you are thinking about purchasing after market wheels you must first decide what you want your car to be.
IF you are going strictly for looks the 22's are a nice choice. IF you are going more for performance you may want to go for a smaller size. BUT if you want the best of both worlds then 20's are probably the best choice. There are several vendors on this site with a wealth of knowledge about this Nine Ball ( Tony ) and BFXAuto ( Nick ) come to mind first. I have 22's on mine but do not track or drag and I like the look so I could honestly care less about the mph or tenths. I have 463 to the wheels and a 6 speed and mine hold traction just fine but I do not drive real aggressive either, except for the ocassional street light dusting but that is not often. In my opinion the best thing would be to decide what you wanted to do with your car and go from there, this way you will not be wasting money on wheels, unless money is not an issue. In that case by 2 sets 18's wit drag radials and 22's for show. |

22's are definately not for performance.............
However, I love the stance with 22's , I love my USW Wheels........ I run the drag strip with 22's, not trying to break records, just have fun!!!

I have factory 21 inch wheels and love them.

I have the factory 21's as well, but they are in my shed looking for a new home. I run road courses and went with wider 20 inch wheels to accomodate a 275 in the front and a 315 out back. I am now considering going to a 19" track set up.

I think the 20's are the best look for the Camaro. The 22's are too big to me but the 18's are too small.
