The GT500 as a benchmark is something my brain has latched onto for hope meaning the top end Camaro will push past 500 hp (even thought the GT500 really makes 447 hp...well, according to Top Gear anyway).

Thats because Top Gear is too retarded to realize that a dyno measures hp at the wheels and not off the fly wheel...

So I have some time off, lot off time off. So I brushed up on my photoshop skills. So here's one I'll post it back on the main photo shop thread but I'm gonna make a few more I hope. I can just get Dragoneye to help me out with some colors and stripes, we can see what this baby's gonna look like.

Yeah, you're right, the GT500 makes 500 hp at the crank and more like 447 at the rear wheels. But I think that Top Gear knows darn well what the HP numbers mean.

Wild_weasel, take for instance...the C6 Corvette Z06 makes anywhere between 453 and 468 rear wheel hp...even while having a factory rating of 505 hp, which of course is rated at the flywheel. Top Gear knows what they're talking about...just food for thought.

unless of course, if Clarkson doesn't like the Camaro... then by all means, lol

I think what they were talking about was the fact that it doesnt live up to the "GT500" name, and that in the UK, they sell and advertise cars on actual BHP, not flywheel... but then again, he's biased to European cars anyways.

Could be wrong though...

Uhm...BHP is pretty much the same as flywheel hp....

Top Gear is most definitely biased against American cars, but to each his own.

Horsepower ratings aside (though thanks a lot for the measurement lesson, I actually didn't know why there was such a big disparity and where it was measured from), whether its 447 or 500hp, using that as your benchmark implies that the Camaro will beat those numbers, hands down, as black and white numbers on paper. And thats just the hp. Not to mention the Camaro will easily outhandle the blue oval horsey with its live rear axle.

But I fear this may become

if I continue further so...

Worth noting that Hammond LOVES American cars and owns several - and in this month's Top Gear magazine (or last months... I forget) he's written an article about why we should all want the new Challenger (in the UK where it won't be sold, at all...).
