Garaged Camaro Support Group
Hey everyone. I started a new group for all of us who have to put our babies away for the winter. Feel free to join if you have or are going to put your Camaro up, or if you just want to give support to those of use who are!!
Thanks! Roxy |

Yes, I've been lucky so far here. Only a few really cold or both cold and wet days here. I've actually rethought my approach. I'm going to get her out every day the weather is above 45 degrees at least for a little while each day. I think that every month will have at least a few days like that so I'm not doing the full blown "storage" thing.
I definitely feel for anyone that has to do that though! :( |

So far I've been lucky!
*knocks on wood* After I prepped it for winter storage, it's been sunny and 40+ here... so I've been driving it as long as it's not wet. But, I know that winter is coming and I will have to put her away!! I'll just have to live through those who have their cars, and read the speculation on the Z/28 to get me through the long, cold, camaro-less winter!! |

I have put my car away for winter three times now, and it seems every weekend it gets 10 degrees warmer than it was during the week. Had 60's, high to mid 50's for the last 3 weekends... In late October and now November in North Dakota of all places...it's like someone knows I got the Camaro this year and is letting me have fun for a little while longer!

Mine went down last weekend but as red light said, if it is nice again this weekend, she will come out again. I only have 930 miles on her and would love to break the 1000 mark.

Speaking of that, should I try get her up to 1000 before I put it away so I can get the oil changed? Probably not best to let the metal shavings sit in the pan over winter?

Most would recommend getting the oil changed before storage. You don't have to wait to 1000 to get it changed either - you can change it now.

Actually I was not going to change mine till spring but you do have a point as right now the shavings should come out better than if it were to set all winter and settle out to the bottom of the pan a stick there. I have been watching the oil on the dip stick and it looks "clean" from any shavings and after 350 miles I had to add a quart of oil but since then she has not used any. I guess I am not sure now.

I'll probably get it changed this weekend, I was shooting for 1000 because the dealer said I could get a free oil change then, haha!

Long as ya get good tires why not plow snow? [will take 10+ year for road salt to be an issue and if you get the under side recoated every 5........]
When mobile I drive my Firebird year round. Up till there is like 2-3ft of snow on the roads. And actualy with the right tires my only problem is everyone else going so slow. |

I plan to drive mine every chance I get until the first salting and then it is storage till the spring rain completely washes all that salt away. I just I will plan on the oil change also this weekend.
