Problem with dealers

This is only my second post on this site. The first was when I thought I would be able to order my car. As many have said, "THANK YOU SCOTT FOR WHAT YOU POST ON THIS SITE". I do not fault GM corperate for my problem and I certanly do not fault the production facility. My problem is with the dealers themselves. I placed an order on 11/11/11 (wow just realized the date was all ones) and was told they had 2 allocations and I was number 2. In late January I received an e-mail telling me I was number 3 and "on the bubble" ( all of this in e-mail). I started looking and found another dealer that said he had an allocations. I placed a $5000.00 deposit there and made the 1st dealer give me my $2000.00 deposit back. I do not mind puttitng large deposits down to show that I am serious. Shortly after that I find out the second dealer was counting on getting additional allocations due to his large volume. That will probibly not happen and it is way too late to look some where else. The problem I have is the way that dealers operate. How many people say car salesmen are the lowest form of life on earth (I mean no disrepect to the honest dealers, I just can not find them). I baffles me that GM allows these types of operations to continue year after year after year after year. These dealers are under the GM umbrella (even though independenty own) and represent GM to the public. We can not purchase from GM, only the dealers. Sorry to say this fbodfather, but I think it's the dealers that are giving GM a bad name. Why should I have to make the dealer prove that he is telling the truth with allocation. If dealers are claiming to have allocations but do not realy have them, I would hope that GM contacts these dealers about these practices. Let me know if you want the names of the dealers. If I could order from GM directly I would, but I can't. Thanks again Scott for putting this web site so far up on your priority list. If I had known on 11/11/11 what I do today I might actually be receiving this awsome beast in the model year I originally want. I will probably reorder a 2013 but have not decided yet and if I do it will not be from either of the dealers I put money down with so far. Although I currently own 2 chevy's, 2 Pontiacs and one Ford (ALL from US companies only) I am a true chevy man for almost 50 years and DAMN PROUD OF IT. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TALK TO CORPERATE AND FIX THE DEALER ISSUES AND PROBLEMS. Now I am going to put my soap box away and go to bed, good night.

PS I saw a Synergy green Camaro (for the first time) in the cloudless Rocky Mountain Morning today and was totally blown away by the color, wow wow wow. I liked that color.

I agree with you totally jerry. Where is the honesty in some of these dealerships today. Pre selling and taking deposits on cars you may never be able to order. Do they not know how to confirm allocations? That and telling someone they are number 1,2 or whatever then bumping them because their cousins, brothers, friend really wants one. First come, first serve and if you can't get it, don't sell it.

I want to say one was in littleton maybe? You can go to any dealer and they can look up allocations and who got them. There is also one in Souix falls, SD and one in Nebraska some where. When my dealer was lookin this up he also noted several cars slated to be built with current numbers of 3000 that are not pre sold units. For me at this point i feel like i made my bed and i am not intrested in going to another dealer out of state to buy a car that is not exactly what i would have ordered. Plus they are all asking well over sticker price. I too am very tired of this whole process and have pretty much come to the conclusion that i will be the owner of a MY2013. Hey as long as i get all the options i wanted i will be happy.

Yes dealing with a crappy dealer sucks That is one of the reasons why i will only buy from the dealer i do. He treats me fair and is strait forward. He is just as fustrated as i am with the whole deal. He has his reputation on the line as well. He sales alot of Vetts and thought he was a shoe in to be one of the firsts to get allocated. I know he will make the deal right with me just really hard not knowing what is going on.

My blood pressure strarted to go up when I began reading this thread. I have never tried to order a car in advance untill now, and I have been driving and buying cars for
nearly 40 years. But the ZL1 is no ordinary car and it's A vehicle I plan on driving for many years. I started my compulsion (obsession) with this car even before we
knew what it's name was going to be. Was it going to be the well known and much anticipated Z28, the obscure not so well name of ZL1 or some entirely new name?

So I went to my local dealer and the salesman was the nicest person you would ever meet. This was feb 2011 and I gave all the info I has gathered about this car. I
also gave him a deposit and we shook hands that I would purchase the car at MSRP. Then over the next several months I came by the dealership to see how's he doing
and drool over the 25 corvettes (5 or 6 ZR1's), and the 30 plus camaro's on the lot.
Anyway around the beginning of June my wife and I decided to attend the big camaro event going on in Frederick md. The ZL1 was going to be there and so was a very special spokesperson Mr. Camaro himself (Scott). When we saw
the ZL1 and I actually talked to Scott and sat in that car it was like the feeling of buying my very first car when I was 17 years old. My wife took some pictures and Scott and I just talked about cars in general. But one short conversation stuck in my head more then anything. I had told Scott I had placed a deposit with my dealer several months earlier and was getting the car at MSRP, his almost immediate reply was DID YOU GET IT IN WRITING? Feeling somewhat embarrassed I kinda said in a low voiceno with a puzzled look. Well I continued to go and visit my dealer over the many
months to follow to keep my salesman up to date. I then get a call from him around the allocations to the dealers were being released ( I think it was Nov) and says I have great news were getting 6 and your first on the list. I said awesome and talked about how great this car was going to be etc etc. But the he had to tell me some bad news as well which was that he could not honor our original agreement of the MSRP and that upper management was wanting 10k more. My stomach went into knots, and I had to tell him that I would have to pass on the car. I knowif he could have he would have sold the car at the priced we had agreed on. So like ten months of having a deposit placed turned out to be a waste of my time and energy.
Oh they did return my deposit to me np there, but I learned a valuable lesson that day. Make sure to get your agreements in writing, Scott had given me some wise advice at the show but I was to nieve to heed it.This is just chapter one of my lessons learned of trying to buy my ZL1 (obsession, my precious). I think the hardest part now is everyone (wife, brothers, friends, even my parents) asking me where's your new car you said you ordered?

Sounds like my experience. Word for word. Check some of my posts on this subject. Not only did Rick Hendrick's City Chevrolet cancel my order,(original order PZDD32) but also 2 others. And we're ALL members of the same Camaro Club! www5thgenerationcamarosofthecarolinas.webs.com Way to go City Chevrolet! Alienate a whole Camaro club! Great way to run a business.
