2013 nav
Backstory cliffs:
Purchased 2013 with mylink before nav was available Nav is available now Took to JBA chevy to get it upgraded They asked me if I had upgrade disk, I laughed and asked them where I would insert a disk They kept car overnight Called me telling me there is no possible way to get the nav, even if interchanging head units. So the question is, how is it impossible to interchange head units to get the nav? You would think a wire swap would be suffice but he kept reassuring me there was 0 chance. Was the salesman right? |

It's not just a head unit swap. Upgrade info isn't completely known yet. Here's a thread on adding it to the older cars.

But I have the mylink unit already installed. Why is it that a software/firmware upgrade won't fix the problem?

Because the head units aren't the same, nor is the wiring the same.

The head unit and display are two separate items, and they are both different. As is some wiring. If it can be done at all, Ofer (2SSRS on the board) will be able to figure it out.

You will have to wait for someone more motivated than a dealer do do this.
they are different head units and a minium. then you have have a GPS antenna issue to deal with possibly, then you may have the dash unit itself as there is more than one part number for that. I have been waiting to see a car with the nav. IMO it will not be as hard as people think but it will be way more expensive than you want to pay. this could be a $1500-$1700 upgrade then you coudl obviously sell the parts you remove but nobody know what the retrofit of a mylink to 2012 will be like yet. one would hope the conectors for the head units are the same at least. this is the kind of think that iwll take someone who just understands wiring fairly well to look into. I am not that motivated to spend money on nav right now.
