After E85 i never logged anything higher than 125. Usually it was about 100-105 under boost on a 80 degree day. This car has only been street tuned by myself so I have no proof of power, I can say that it was easier to drive, smelled way better without cats then unleaded every does.

Mustang forums and the Turbo forums have some great info on guys using E85 real world. Do it yourselfers and pro's. If i could add a few hundreds dollars and parts and switch to a flex fuel type set up where it didn't matter what % of ethanol I used I would do it to my new car tomorrow!
Thanks much...I'm on the SVT Board as they have had S/Cers for a long time...It's the most active board I've seen.

I haven't seen E85 anywhere around where I live in Canada. I might be worth looking into, right now the race fuel I use is about $28 a gallon.

less btu = less heat soak so that would be a pro for sure.

That's because there is confusion that E85 is 85 Octane when it's 100+ Octane, I can't tell you how many sites I read before I actually found out differently and it's also obvious this is true by the first replies in this thread.

CTS-V runs at the track here in PHX. All the typical mods less headers with ID1250's and a duel pump set up. Gain of 40-50 rwhp. Runs consistent 10.7's with an A6. No problems at all and has been running this fuel for over a year.

honeslty E85 has so much more octane than normal fuel unless you tune is real aggressvie you proabably won't have the same issue.

or you could tune for max power and just nock a bit of timing out of it for safty.

the problem this engine has on normal fuel is the min octane rating it will accept is very close to the maximum you can buy at the pump. so if you have a guy throw in unleaded by accident or get a batch of fuel that does not meet the minimum rating it causes the issue.

I have the dsx e85 setup on my zl1. CBI streetcars did all my mods and dsx used his e85 sensor and tune. Its about a 50rwhp increase and you dont have to do any tuning you pick what you want either 93 or e85 when running his sensor set up

yeah we've been doing e85 tunes and flex fuel tunes for a while on camaros and cts-v's. best suggestion is to add the dsteck flex fuel sensor and tune accordingly. depending on your power level you're going to need a 850-1000 cc injector (anything over 700 wheel will need a 1000 cc injector). in addition anything over 550 rwhp is going to require more fuel system, the only option right now is the Squash performance kit, which works great, and is Roughly $2k for the kit. Depending on your current boost level, the e85 is roughly worth 70+ rwhp over 91 octane. if tuned properly , the computer will make all the changes on its own without touching the tune whatsoever... if you have more questions shoot me an email...

if youre running a flex fuel sensor (ethanol contant sensor). the computer consistantly knows the current ethanol content of the fuel. knowing the ethanol content the computer knows the stoich of the given fuel in the tank. there are various tables that are dedicated to "alcohol" timing and commanded WOT fueling. generally speaking when the i command the pcm to go to 100% alcohol wot timing and fueling at any point past 70% ethanol, and a 50% blend of alcohol wot timing and fueling at 50% ethanol content. Hope this helps you understand a little better.

E85 will use 30% more fuel than say race gas?I have been running E85 in my boat for 3 years and my sand rail for 2years.I have also tested the consistency of pump E85 in the summer when everybody says it is at its lowest and it tested 87% ethonal?Sunoco,Ignite and Rocket race E85 all tested 90% on my tester.
I plan on converting my ZL 1 to E85 in the near future as we always want more HP but don't want go pay $10 and up for 100 octane race fuel.E85 pump is $3.75 here in Tucson and is available all over town.A real good friend of mine had a turbo charged mustang that pulled 1015 hp to the rear wheels and all he used was pump E85 with no problems at all.

It is funny because I just read this whole thread and all the detailed information asked is in the link on post #17. ADM took a stock ZL1, changed fuel pumps injectors, and sensors then adjusted the tune. They added an upper pulley to take advantage of the improved octane in the fuel and the car increased 140whp. No changes to the engine except used 850 injectors and swapped the upper pulley, 622whp, E85 conversion. Pretty impressive. I'll repost the link since most of the posters on this thread seemed to miss it.

598 rwhp, tune, headers, injectors ,e 85 using Silverado flex fuel senser takes more fuel but worth the cost
