amsoil ?

Priced amsoil signature series at 9.50 a quart, which comes to 81.00 after taxes. Or i can get mobil 1 extended performance for 26.00 for five quarts at walmart. So basically 52.00 for 10 quarts. Is amsoil worth the 30.00 extra dollars?

And PLEASE, for the love of god and all things sacred and holy, if you do not change your own oil, take it to a local mechanic, please do not take it to the clowns at wal mart

Check out the Driven/Joe Gibbs LS30 high Zinc Synthetic. It's specially formulated for LS engines and is just a touch more than Amsoil. We have been using it on all of our shop builds and our own cars. It's good stuff!

As for the filter, we run the AC Delco PF48R.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Tyler

Also, Mobil 1 used to be a great product.
I say used to because it USED to be a synthetic, then they lost a lawsuit and were able to change the law as to what defines a synthetic oil.
Amsoil, Redline, and from what I understand Brad Penn and Joe Gibbs oils, respectively are awesome.

I do know that several tests have been done on the amsoil filter, it has the least amount of flowback or backflow or something, I don't remember

I know RP used to be a great product.
I have heard a lot lately that it has gone down hill, ironically right around the same time that Mobil 1 went full retard.
I can tell you that Amsoil Signature claims that it only needs to be changed like every 25 thousand miles, which is a very bold statement.
I would never ever recomend running an engine for 25k miles without an oil change, fyi

You might get a good idea on oil wear protection from this link and then make your decision. Very informative and seem to be unbiased about all the different oil brands.

Come on, that paper is nonsense.
The guy claims all of these scientific studies yet refuses to publish sources, refuses to publish the actual test data, and is clearly a shill for Prolong engine treatment, and this is one guy who supposedly did one unbiased test= anecdotal not emipracle evidence, at best.

I do not know and you could be correct, but Amsoil ranks very well by Him on wear protection.

I am not saying that there are no valid points in his "research," but he is clearly trying to sell a specific product- not an oil but an additive, so his statements are suspect.
Furthermore, he makes statements such as "A Nascar Driver/Builder/designer" a "PhD Engineer" etc, yet at the end of his research, he does not list any names, dates or sources. I am not saying he is not legit, or his research is not legit.
I am saying that he is calling it "scientific," when in fact it is not.
Look up any real scientific study, medical, physics, whatever, all these things- sources, dates, names, etc are listed so that the study can be retested and proven accurate and valid and repeatable.

Any time anyone claims scientific data and does not provide these things up front treat it with a high degree of skepticism.

Thanks for that input, sounds like Amsoil is the product for me! Now here I go, what about oil filters.

No the price from walmart was just buying the oil. There is no way in hell I would let walmart change my oil. I'm going to get the amsoil. I do most of my own work to the car.
