ZL1 cam swap

Bored today. Decided to start my cam swap before I have the parts in hand yet. Figured I'd disassemble this weekend and put it back together next weekend.

Strut brace off. Intake off. Throttle body off.

Inside SC snout. Notice no oil in intake and 13 k miles, no catch can on my car.

Radiator out. Rotofab out, necessary to get out the radiator. Pulleys and water pump off. Time to remove damper.

Damper off. time to remove front cover. Don't forget 2 bolts on the underside that hold the cover.

Awesome, can't wait to hear it. I've been talking with my tuner about the BTR stage 3. Pretty sure that's the one I'm going to go with

Good choice for max effort car. Mine will be similar but a little smaller and a couple degrees less overlap and get the intake valve closed a little earlier for better drivabilty and better low-mid-range torque.

There is a bolt that comes in from the side and goes in the side of the water pump as a mount for the upper pulley bracket that has to come out or else the water pump won't come off. No need to remove the whole pulley bracket, just the one bolt and leave the pulley bracket in place.

And these three pulleys in yellow have to come off to get access to the water pump bolts. The pulley in green can stay attached to the water pump and comes off with it.

ok...it has been stated that the entire oil pan needs to be dropped to access the oil pump pickup tube retaining bolt. Do you concur?

Yes, it's tucked up under there pretty good. Can barely touch your finger on it. Probably could loosen the oil pan and lower the front edge a couple inches and get to it without pulling the whole oil pan off. It's like the 4thgen f-body LS1s. Can't access them either. I've done C5 Corvettes and you can reach the bolt on them.

I had an 02 Z06 and could access this bolt without dropping the entire pan...was wondering if the LSA was more difficult. Thanks for the info above.
