Borla ATAK on a L99
Hey guys. Does anybody have the Borla ATAK on the L99? I heard that it does not sound well when the engine drops to 4 cyl.
Would anybody confirm o deny this? |

I've got it.
It sounds great 100% of the time. I have not heard before it sounds "bad" when it "drops". I can tell you we are just below 2,000 miles and it's really sounding BETTER than at mile #10 when it was installed. I'd recommend BORLA ATAK CAT.... but - there are a lot of quality exhausts out there, do your research, and pick what's best in YOUR opinion. how good does it sound???? .... it's the wife's car.... she will actually remote start the car randomly just so she can hear it rumble.

I suggest you have that AFM tuned out. I did and it made no difference in my fuel economy.
There are lots of folks out there with the Borla Atak. I have the Borla Touring exhaust and I love how it sounds on my L99 with headers. |

I have it on my L99, but I also have headers too. The auto isn't even worth modding unless you get a tune (so AFM will then be gone) otherwise on stock tune the car is a dog.

Hey! What's wrong with being a dog! Don't know about yours but mine's a very fast dog:
Seriously tho, I must have a "good one" cuz there is no "slow" in it....

OP, It is awful with Long tubes. Depending on what model # you go with on Borla..it isn't bad at all. I have the S type which is slightly more docile than the ATAK. Drone isn't bad at all, AFM sounds....strange, but again management with paddle shifters. I say go for it, but like other posters have said if you ever plan to do LT with a Borla system you better tune out the AFM.

With a tune, the car not only shifts more aggressively and down shifts when needed on the fly, but is overall WAY more aggressive. Totally different animal. |

Not arguing with the tune part of things, just that not all cars are/behave the same.... Of course when I went FI, the trans tune came with it and yeah, it is even better...

I say gor for it. Does anybody know If I have headers installed without a tune will there be a risk driving the car other than the engine light coming on. It will probably be driven for a month before I get a tune. I have an L99 and Im thinking about going with Kooks Lts and Borla Atak cat-back exhaust.
