t56 clutch fluid reservoir
I know everyone has been looking and waiting for the GTO reservoir to seperate the clutch and the brakes. I ran across a company that sells a very similar reservoir that was made for t56 trannys. If you go to nookandtanny.com and type in res-gmrclutch in the keywords box, it should take you right to it. It is 25.00 and it works very well. It just takes a bit of grinding on the back to fit the round shape of the shock tower and some slight bending of the tabs to make it sit level. It looks like a factory piece when it is done.

Thanks for this I just got an email from GMPartsDirect saying that the GTO part is on backorder with no return ETA, I might have to cancel and order one of these.
Thanks Here's a direct link to the part as well http://www.nookandtranny.com/mm5/mer...Category_Code= |

I got the same thing from GMPartsDirect several months ago. I just ignored it, and the part arrived 2 weeks later. So some are shipping despite the b/o...

you know i was told about this before, my question is why do you want to split the brake and the clutch fluid? what will it help.
reason i ask is the scion tc's have the same set up and i see nothing wrong with it |

Clutch fluid gets contaminated with clutch dust and needs to be flushed once or twice per year. Separating the reservoirs isolates the braking system from this contamination, and eliminates the need for periodic flushing of the brake fluid.

Agreed although most are aware of it I think. Good info either way. Will be doing this now that my clutch is fixed.

I agree, there are quite a few people who do not know about the clutch dust getting into the brake/clutch fluid. Well worth the $40 fix.

I found a billet aluminum one. This looks better but cost a lot more.

This, along with the remote bleeder kit I already picked up will make the fluid changes near effortless. My plan is to attach a mighty vac to the actuator bleeder screw and just suck out all the fluid while I refill the resevoir. 5 minute job. -Mark. |
