Arrow GM: China sales > US sales

Quote:
If GM's sales estimates are accurate, China knocked the United States out of the top spot in auto industry market sales for January — the first time the U.S. market has ever been beaten.

(this is not only GM cars, it's all manufacturers)

i wonder if this is because the baby boomers have settled down and stopped buying cars, hence less sales

Maybe part of it but I suspect a small part. They have a hell of a lot of people. And a growing industry. Here's the scary part. They may be selling cars HERE soon. Sure they have some ugly cars but a lot of people mistake 'Green' for 'Ugly'. Usually one in the same for me.

They are also known for unsafe cars (and other products in general). I wouldn't be too worried about them doing much in the forseeable future.

So GM should have sold ~2x as many in the US as China but the auto market is down to levels not seen in decades. But as the market recovers, it may only keep pace with China.

As for Chinese cars being unsafe, well when people can buy a new Chinese car for $4000 they won't care that it only has a 2 star safety rating.

I remember hearing comments like this about 15 years ago about Korean cars. It took about 10 years for them to shake most of the negative image.

Bleach is very effective at chlorinating the gene pool, just drink a half litre and find out for yourself.
