Ok just got off the phone with the dealer and I must say I'm very upset. Hold on i'm F----n Pissed. Because I got the car used with only 3,300 miles told me GM will not help second owners of cars. Not to mention that when I got it. It was in the new car showroom. Total BS !!! Now I will be call GM myself !!!!! This is my 4th Camaro I had 67,91,99 and 10 and it might be the last.

My 5th gen is coming up on 5 years old with no signs of the dash cracking, but I always use a windshield visor when parking my car outside for more than 15 minutes or so.

I learned my lesson with my 4th gens. All it took is one long day parked at the beach and the dash would crack from the intense heat in direct sunlight. I finally learned to use a windshield visor after that.

But saying that, the dash shouldn't crack. My dad parks his Toyota 4 Runner in his driveway and his car is 10 years old. He never uses a windshield visor and his dash has no cracks. If you tired that with a 4th gen the dash would crack like crazy. It sounds like the 5th gen is going to follow the same path (large plastic dash can't handle hot/cold)

Called GM and told them about the problem and they open a case file. We will see if that helps.

GM has always used cheap materials for the dash in most of their models. Had a 2010 Silverado LTZ, the dash cracked in that thing after 2500 miles. GM wouldn't fix it, good luck.

Well they won't replace my dash but will have their vinyl guy fix it. Guess that's better than nothing.

I honesty believe that the dash on these cars should not crack in 3 years time. It is totally crazy for the price of these cars. I am still waiting to hear back for what they are going to do to fix it.

I am curious which service writer you spoke with at Classic. I have nothing but good experiences there. But I have dealt with the same person in service there for over 10 years and we have a good relationship spanning several cars.
If at all possible find a service writer you like and only deal with that one person.

Quick update. After a few weeks of phone calls and long letters. G.M. is willing to pay for 50% of the repair. The dealer told me that it was about $1,200.00 to repair. Does anyone know if that is the going price for dash replacement? I am so happy that G.M. is going to help me on this. It's just the dealer i don't trust.

I don't understand, there should be uniformity from GM, dealership to dealership, mine was cracked, they replaced it no questions asked, and how they all should be handled. Ron Tilley

Sounds correct

I was offered the same deal from my dealer (whom I trust). They said it was about $1100, so your estimate sounds right.
