I sure hope they last longer than the Bose I have in my Blazer. My speakers are crackling like crazy and are a bitch to find replacements cause they are only 2 ohm. If I had the money I would rip the whole system out and get new everything.

^Based on my experience, BA is light years ahead of Bose. You should be more than happy.

So where is the 9th speaker???
They could be using two small subs, really just have to wait for more solid info at this point though.

NO SUBWOOFER UNLESS ADDED AS AN OPTION
1 in each A-pillar = 2
1 in dash = 1
1 woofer in each door = 2
2 dual cone speakers in rear = 4
total = 9
7 channel amp powers the speakers

I honestly hate when they use the whole "9 speaker" thing, its almost like rating the amp at max power (the "500watt" Monsoon System). Yes TECHNICALLY there are 9 speakers, in reality its less

The front doors have component sets, the mids put out different sounds than the tweeters in the pillars. Its really the equivalent of 2 speakers, not 4. The center channel speaker is full range, so thats really 3. In the rear, sounds like its two woofers, I dont know how you can get 7 channels out of 2 speakers, but ok, maybe that spec is a bit off. Maybe they are full range speakers with larger woofers (like a set of 6x9s). Either way I would bet the amp is 5 channels. It may even only be 4, with 1 channel driving both rear woofers in parallel, 2 channels running the front component sets, and 1 channel running the center speaker with a filter on it to cut out the low range. Or it could be a custom 5 channel amp, with the 5th lower channel being used to power that center speaker.

There is even another option, its very possible the headunit is the same in both a BA equipped car and a non BA car. Then it could end up the same setup as the Monsoon in the 4thgens, where the tweeters and far rear speakers were actually powered off of the headunit, and the amplifier drove everything else (that design also explains why there was so much distortion in those setups, as the amplifier was driven line level off the 4 channels out of the factory headunit).

I'm interested to see how it is set up.

EDIT: And after all my theories, someone posts that data sheet which i couldn't find in my quick search before that elminiates them all. 7 Channel amp it is!

Hello, I was told or read somewhere that if you order the 2SS package that the Boston Acoustic System comes with it at no extra charge. I thought that sounded to good to be true, but when I used the online "Build and Price Your Camaro" guide, that is how it comes up. It also Includes Carpeted Front Seats, and Convenience and Connectivity Package, at no extra cost. If anyone has any comments on this please let me know.

Simply it's as follows:

2 (tweeters on pillars)
2 (6.5's in doors)
2 (woofers of 6x9)
2 (speakers in center of 6x9)
+1 (center channel)
= 9

The Pioneer system in the cobalts is awsome.
I've been blasting the thing for the past three years with no problems.
It sounds really clean whether the volume is low or high.

I've gotta say there is no sense in getting excited over the BA system just yet. BA has a wide variety of speakers ranging from entry level to audiophile class. We will just have to sit and wait to hear how the Camaro ones will perform.

Personally, I've always been a fan of BA. In 2001 I built $5k audio system in my GMC Sierra and used BA 3-way separates in the doors/kicks. Till this day, that is the only sound system that would give me the chills on Stairway to Heaven.

Digital amp! Didn't pay attention to that before, that's awesome news! Even though I'll be getting the BA package w/ 2SS, this means I wont have to ditch the deck when I upgrade later... sweet

I'll have to wait and see.....I've heard premium name brand factory systems before and they weren't that impressive regardless of the manufacturer.

There should be preamp outputs in the back, but will not be sure for a while on that one.
