Two traded cars and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt.

Your situation does NOT suck.

Wrap your head around the fact that you've currently got a great car, that you're financially not in a position to manage a more expensive car, higher monthly car payment and filling up with premium gas.

Truth-be-told, If you're not able to compensate for the 4k difference between what is offered and what you owe on your current Camaro without rolling it over into your new car payment, you're just asking to be cash poor for the next several years. Is it really worth it? (this is how many people get themselves in such a financial mess which takes years to get out of).

There are dozens and dozens of threads exactly like yours. Read up, my friend, and learn to curb your enthusiasm.

23k is in the ballpark on trade value for your car. KBB will give you a guesstimate on the value, but dealers do not use this. They look at what similar cars to yours with similar mileage are going for at auction. This is the true value of your car to the dealer.

You owe 31k and it's value at trade is about 23k-24k at best.

You are $7k to $8k upside down on your car.

Unless you have about 10k in cash to waste as a down payment on the newer car, you should stay with what you got..........

IMO upgrading is a waste of money for you. Keep what you have now, and when the 6th gens come out, buy an SS. If nothing else, because you're SO upside-down and this will make it MUCH worse-- and if you can't afford that, think of the higher insurance, fuel and all-over ownership costs of an SS.

Keep the six and save money toward trading it in 4 years from now for a '15 or '16 SS.

Man does anyone keep their v6 around here. I see these threads constantly. I don't blame you though.

I traded up for my new '11 SS after having my '11 LT for 7 mths. Traded it in with 6k miles and got a lil more then what they offered you and mine had a few mods that I left on it (aftermarket exhaust & painted calipers) but they dont care about mods. Don't expect much more then $23k for ur car. In my situation, I was only upside about a grand in my old loan plus I got a better interest rate. Only raised my monthly payments by $36 bucks for the same length of loan. All in all, I got a great deal.

Since you owe $31k, ur upside $10k already. I know you want a SS but if the deal isnt too good to pass up, I wouldn't do it. It took a lot of consideration and number crunching on my part b4 I did it. I would concentrate on paying down ur existing loan faster and maybe in a year or so, look at getting a SS again. Keeps ur eyes peeled for a SS but I think u would regret it later if u did it now.

The OP doesn't have to take his advice. The OP asked for opinions and the guy told him what he would do. Ultimately it will be up to the OP to make the right decision.

To whoever said that going back to your selling dealer was a good idea, I beg to differ. I just ordered my second SS a couple of weeks ago and it was NOT from my selling dealer. Those good for nothings were trying to make me pay msrp when they forgot that I paid invoice for my current SS!

OP, since you seem dead set on doing this and if you can truly live with the payments, then the best advice I can give you is to shop around! Try to get the most for your car and the least for the SS. Also, no one mentioned this, but 29.5 for an SS with 13K seems a little pricey to me. The dealer where I ordered my second SS from was selling an SS/RS with 1500 for 29.5. So yea, definitely do some more research. Your selling dealer is likely to not care about you anymore, or at least that was my experience.

The same exact thing happened to me when I was younger. I was so upside down the salesman practically chased me out of his office. I then waited 3 years before an upgrade was feasible. By that time I was making more money, financing was cheaper, I had more clout. Have a little patience, it will pay off.

Do not do it my friend. Is 2 more cylinder worth over 40k to you? Human's are greedy in nature. Once you get the SS you will want better. Enjoy what you have and put that money into making your car you. Things are great for the V6 camaro right now and only getting better.

I'm just asking, because that's how I read your original post.

I'm about to have a Suzy Orman moment here...if you don't know who she is, I'd suggest you start watching her show.
Her show is great, I like it when the veins put out on her neck when she gets upset.

I didn't... however truth be told there is nothing "practical" about owning any but the LS version of this car.
