22" wheel question
What would be the best size tire to put on a set of 22's. Looking at a set of American Racing Daytona Gray 22x9 and 22x11, but I'm not sure which tire brand and size to go with, and what is the correct wheel offset.
Also, I know I will lose a little traction, but I'm curious as to what exactly to expect. Who has swapped their 20s for 22s and how did affect your ride and traction? Thanks.

Is there a huge difference in grip between the 20's and 22's?

Maybe? I mean there's definitely a weight difference.

I'm not taking my car to the track or anything, and I'm not a big street racer, but I am putting just over 475 to the wheels and I don't want to sit there and spin if I ever need to jump on it. Not really worried about it...just more curious than anything.

I'm sure u like the look just do it. It will stop spinning sometime. When u have no sidewall.

22" wheels and performance (straight line or in the twisties) are counter productive. But for some, they're worth it (because the like the look). Just don't try racing anyone because you'll be disappointed. But with some quality tires, you should be okay. |

That's good. That will help reduce rotational mass with the larger diameter wheels. It's a combination of overall weight and distance from center that reduces performance (acceleration and braking). Then you have the lack of sidewall that makes it harder the tires to hook up.
But if you get lighter weight wheels, it will definately help negate some of the performance difference vs. 20" wheels. And for guys that love racing, they can always get an extra set of wheels (17" or 18") with drag radials for the track. |

Thanks for the info everybody. Any recommendations on offset or brand preference? I've been reading up on Nitto Invos, Toyo Proxes 4, Pirellis, BFG's, etc, but everyone has a different opinion so I really don't know. I've always liked Pirellis but I'm not impressed with the stock P zero's life span.
