2017+ Recaro's fitted into a 5th gen

After watching a vid where someone installed a set of the newer ZL1 Recaro's into a 6th gen SS, it makes me wonder how viable that is for a 5th gen? perhaps bolting the seat itself to the older rails?

Just a thought as it seems that the 5th gen Recaro's simply aren't being made any longer..

You can buy a true track seat for 1/3 to 1/4 the price and also the weight; I'm sure GM realized this when no one bought them for their stupid pricing and obesity.

Not sure on bolting up but you'd likely need to swap the wiring harness for it to work without issue.

For significantly less than the recaros were to buy you can pick of a pair of cobra misano seats in leather with stainless steel and carbon fiber backs. Saw a set in a car and they are incredible track seats.

The main problem with all aftermarket seats that I have seen though is none of them address the issue of the seat airbags or a way or keeping the SRS system happy without the seat airbags so the rest of the SRS system works properly. This functionality matters to some people that drive on both the street and track.

The factory Recaro's alleviate this issue since they were designed to have the seat airbags and plug and play with your factory connectors.

It's 2 bolts and a wire clip to swap a seat out for a track day. It's a 5 minute ordeal.

There's a thread in the track section, you just need a resistor to make the airbag system happy. Or you can buy the modules you plug into the wiring on ebay or a couple websites.

I guessing the OP has never sat in the 5th gen Recaro's. I've sat in both and the 5th gen Recaro's are lightyears better. If you look at the standard seats and the Recaro's there is a significant difference in design. The 6th gens looks like they simply added a little extra bulstering to stock seats. If you're going to get OEM Recaro's go with the 5th gen Recaro's. No need to worry if they will work and they look amazing. I love mine. Very comfortable and hold you in place.

That is very sad...I had to have them when I ordered my car. Had Recaro's in my EVO IX and love them.
