HP Bragging Rights

I have the LS3 engine that has 426HP. I am adding a Corsa Exhaust which is supposed to give you an average increase if 6HP and CAI Cold Air which should give me 16HP. When some one asks how much I have is it ok to say 448HP?

I would not as each is in an independent install, not grouped together. You may get 16 from CAI, but after install exhaust only goes up by 3 or higher than advertised. I don't get into the contest of putting it out there ever for reasons like this unless you start with a dyno baseline and compare each after install.

No...horsepower from bolt ons do no "stack up" like a simple addition problem. If so, my car would be 370+ horsepower V6.

That said, since these are your first two bolt ons and they are on opposite ends (intake and exhaust side) they should stack up well. I'd just tell people with your add ons your looking at 440+

Not ragging on the OP, fair question, but...

this reminded me of when I was car pooling back in the 70's gas shortages period. My fellow rider had a teen age son and he bought him a used Chevy Blazer. About once a week Dad would be buying the kid an add-on/mod,
that "would improve gas mileaage". After a few months of this, Dad and I decided that the Blazer had to be making gas not consuming it. The kid was a good kid, and Dad could afford it, but it was still pretty funny.

If you're talking to a ricer remember that every sticker adds 5 HP.

Remember the number of 426 hp is at the Crank not the wheels, so definitely a no when asked by someone who knows what they are talking about. But most definitely add some stickers and that should give you about a 1000 RWHP!

Just say "Stock LS3 is rated at 426hp although I added some mods, so give or take a few..."
