I have this retractable bracket also, was trying to figure out the best way to set the angle of the flat plate holder so it sits close to 90 degrees to the ground (parallel to bumper).
Taking what KMPrenger said: "Instead, you can easily glue, tape, or fasten something to front of the slider, so that when you slide out the plate,it will sit and stay at around a 110 to 120 degree angle, thus allowing it to be positioned close to your front bumper without touching it." I think I am going to drill 2 small holes into the front of that bracket, so I can insert screws/nuts/washers/etc to be able to adjust that angle perfectly (by placing the right number of washers under the sheet metal screw to push it out right). Tighten it down from the back with a lock nut, and it should be good to go. I'm afraid glue/tape/etc will come apart - screws through metal with lock washers should hold. I'll post pics after I head to Home Depot tonight to get some small stainless screws/washers/etc.

1) Didn't like it offset to one side. 2) Didn't want to drill into that bumper. So, I found the post about using the stock front license plate holder with zip ties - and it looks great!!! And NO HOLES IN THE BUMPER. Now, I just need to sell this hide away frame!!! Here's what I bought . . . http://rpidesigns.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=1672 It's in perfect condition if anyone wants it, PM if interested. I'll post it on the classifieds. Thanks!!!

Anyone with one of these hide aways that also has a front splitter?
I need the plate holder, but want a splitter and hope they can live happily together.

Out of interest - where did you connect the motor's electrics to in order to mount it on the passenger's side?

And this is why I love where I love. Cops will not pull you over for no front plate unless its prime DUI hours or they're bored. If and thats a big if they actually pull you over they'll just tell you to get a front plate and move on, no paperwork.

This may be alright in some states, but in Iowa the license plate must be at the very most front point of the car. Therefore, this license plate bracket would not work...legally.

Bernsy the state trooper i talked to at a local show here told me that mine was fine where it was located lower left corner he said he wouldnt pull me over for it as long as it was visible ! He also stated that if they wanted to technical about it the plate is actually suposed to be a certain hieght from the ground also but like he said as long as they can see the plate no problem !
