I dont know about protection but i used it on my black camaro and on my pickup truck. I think using the clay bar is the ticket to get a smooth surface to apply the wax. Not overly impressed with it. Some of the benefits are it can be applied in the sun which helps it dry faster and there is no white residue. Time will tell on the protection.

OK, so I drove all the way to Toms River this morning to get this damn kit. My new black baby is about a week old. About 200 miles on her, a nice trip on the parkway, and a light rain on her one night (fell asleep and didnt put it in the garage). Its definitely getting a little dirty, but still looks like a new car.

Should i follow everything step by step? claybar? precautions with the new paint? also, since it just came from the dealer, i dont have to dawn it, right?

Yes you should dawn it since the dealer I'm sure waxed the car. I plan on Dawning and Claybar at the same time. Basically use dawn to lubricate.
