Because I don't mind being .1 seconds per lap slower to have all of the creature comforts for the 99.9% of the time that I'll be driving the car on the street.

A 2SS-1LE is certainly not something that a track rat would order for themselves. A track rat is going to be looking for ways to reduce the weight on the car and NOT add on pieces that would add on weight. This sounds like the direction you might consider for yourself.

However for myself, I know that I'm not going to track my car more than a few times a year. While I'm on the track, I would like to take advantage of the 1LE's prowess features of 6 piston Brembos, Mag, Ride, upgraded suspension and sway bars, ediff, forged rims and wide rubber and Recaro seats. With the exception of the Mag. Ride, these are not offered on the 2SS (yet). When I'm not on the track I do drive my Camaros. I have been to two different Camaro Fests in two different states and all around Florida. It would be nice to have all of the amenities of a 2SS Camaro while having the tenacity of a 1LE. Is it like having my cake and eating too, no question about it and I'm willing to pay for my bigger slice of cake.

It might not be the way that you would go but it is the way that I would like to see happen and I do not believe that I am the only one that feels that way.

As a guy who would order the 1SS 1LE to keep the weight down... I would support you guys in having the option for the 2SS...

I really wanted heated Recaro seats.... then I found out the standard recaros weigh like 60 lbs each....

Thanks John, I do not know if the new style Recaros in the 6th Gen weigh less than the 5th Gen Recaros. I do know the the standard seats in the 6th Gen are more comfortable and seem to grip me a little better than the standard 5th Gen seats. It would be interesting to see what the weight difference is between the new Recaros and the standard SS seats in a 6th Gen.

As far as the posers aspect, call it what you will. The 2SS 1LE is meant for those of us that want to take their daily driver to the track a couple times a year with their club or just for the hell of it. I'd wager there are far more people buying "poser" track cars than you'd give credit. I flat out will not own another 1LE without the 2SS. If I get my car on the track more than once a year I'm ecstatic.

There are things on the new 2SS I think are unnecessary like air conditioned seats. But hell, if it comes with the package I'll take it. I do understand your point about weight. Being an ass about it does you no credit. This is America and if you can pay for it, you can have it. If you're that worried about weight then buy a Z28 and don't even look at a 1LE. The 1LE is meant to be a "track capable" car, not a designated track car. That's the same reason I appreciate the Z28 but don't own/want one.

Another reason I love my 1LE is it's different. Yes, the ground effects probably do more harm than good to the overall performance at the track. That's not why I got them and the track isn't why I bought the car at all. I bought it because I really like the hood wrap, the ground effects, the performance and the reduced likelihood I'll pull up next to the exact same car at a stop light. Hell, there's only about ten 2013 1LE's in the directory which actually have the ground effects kit on them. Knock it down even further there's only about four of us with the same exact setup I have. That means a lot to me. If I were to become a "real" track rat, I wouldn't be headed to my local dealership at all. I'd build the car.

I wouldn't mind seeing the 1LE option on the 2SS. Would it be priced differently? Did the Gen5 2SS 1LE option price out different than on the 1SS?

Yes. The 1LE was just a package from an ordering standpoint. It was $3500 MSRP on the GEN5 2013-2015 Camaros. So, you could order a 1SS or 2SS and just add the package.
