Halo and Headlight Operation Question

I have a question about the halos..
how would you go about turning them on?
cant u drive with just the halos on...
without the hid's?
I didnt see any on/off control in the description given.

Also if you turn the knob all the way to the left in the off position can you shut off the Day time running lights?

So, I am still unsure after reading it whether the RS cars foglights can operate like actual fogs or not. It would seem that when the hid's come on, you could push the button on turn them back on as fogs. It's not a big deal, but it would be nice. When it's raining or foggy, I like having as much light as possible.

Sorry i had posted this in the getting to know your camaro thread but i thought this way i would get a better response thanks!

EDIT: Answered by Fbod...

As for the foglights, they are the DRLs, but can be operated as "normal" foglights. When the headlights come on, you can push the button in and the foglights come on as normal. You can also turn the parking lights on and turn the foglights on by pushing in the button.

To answer your questions.

Once the car is started, turning the headlight knob to the left (it will spring back) shuts off the Daytime running lights (which are the lights that look like Fog Lamps) -- if you click the knob to the right one click, the halos come on.......just the halos........

...............which tends to make most mustangs 'squeak'........

That's the way I drive 130 all the time (other than when it gets dark....)

No. They can be -- see above.

are u sure?

how do the RS camaros @ the auto shows have just the halos on?

the one spokes person @ GM said that you can run just the halos but
the parking lights must also be on..
this was @ the cleveland auto show.

Well that's a nice clarification there.

Whoever's the first to take delivery is going to have to play with all these functions and report back.

I stand corrected and will edit my posts. That guy ^^ I do not argue with when it comes to matters of the Camaro.

Thanks for this, I've been wondering about it as well. Do you have to manually turn them off, or do they go off when the ignition is turned off? I think I'd like to leave them on if I have to run into the store real quick or something... haha... Any danger in leaving them on? (as far as draining the battery, etc.)

Thanks!

P.S. your Camaro was the first 2010 I've sat in... man it was awesome!! Thanks again for Friday!

I find myself leaving them on when I run into a store (quickly) and yes, they would run the battery down -- EXCEPT that the body control module will shut them off after a few minutes.

We actually put a jumper wire on some of the Camaros at select autoshows.......which involves pulling the wiring harness plug from the headlamp assembly (you need someone with really small hands...) -- and then putting a 'made-up' harness on both lights == the harness has two aligator clips and we attach those to the power pack......

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!

At Lehigh Valley Auto show:

The Camaro SS/RS was supposed to be in the middle of the Chevy display (where the ZR1 ended up...)

HOWEVER -- when I saw the Challenger across the aisle? -- CAMARO UP FRONT....

.....and every time I turned the halos on, we heard a whimper from across the aisle!!!

Do the HID's automatically come on at night in this setting or does the knob need to be in another position?

Pretty much what I want to be able to do is drive with the halo's on during the day and have the HID's come on at night without having to change the knob every time.

I believe that the knob is always at an "AUTO" position. When it is night, headlights automatically come on. This is how it works with all GM vehicles that I know of and I doubt they would change this for the camaro.

So day, you'd have to turn the knob to put the halos on and night you shouldn't have to do anything.

You can turn the DRL's off on any GM vehicle made after 2004 I think. We're just realizing it now because the halos look much cooler.
