304 will last forever, coated Mild steel, will eventually rust thru. Most people will change their exhaust/minds before that happens

a year or two ago, I would have said ceramic coated, but my Doug Thorley headers are now getting the spot rust on all the tubes and around the welds. Just sent them an email. that was the reason i bought them over the others so that it wouldn't rust, but now found out a little over 2 years since I bought them that they eventually rust too. Perhaps they can be recoated?

But with the stainless steel, i don't like that heat stressed "rainbow" effect the metal gets. So I'm on the fence with both.

Unlike chrome stainless steel doesn't permanently discolor. Take to them with some Blue-Away and Simi chrome polish and they will look like new again.

Mild steel with a QUALITY coating is my favorite. I prefer that to anything else in the turbo kits I have put together. But the good coatings are nothing like that polished crap that most headers come with. Look up polydyne and look at their gold green coating. That's some good stuff
