Tint %
I have a black/black 10 camaro. what percentage should i get done to keep some visibility? my bro has 5 on his charger, and thats obviously too dark. I have a 2000 camaro as well, but my girlfriend tinted those windows 10 years ago for me and doesnt remember the percentage. will 20 be too dark? should i do 20 on the back and 35 on the sides? what about the strip on the front. ive obviously never had to tint a car myself haha.

I put 15% on mine. That's darker than what's legal in Tennessee but it's not so dark to really draw attention and I can still easily see out at night. I agree with gunmetal....I would look at several and decide what's best for you.

With regard to the legality, I (we) cannot answer that question. The first cop that pulls you over will make that call.
Michigan laws allow notint on the doors and windshield, but I have been tinting the windows (30%-35%) on my cars for years with no issues with the police, but that’s on SUVs, Minivans and a Caddy CTS…not a red Camaro. I tinted my Camaro; rear window: 28%, side windows: 40%, and windshield: 50%. See attached photos. Bottom line, my wife got a ticket on the day after I got the tinting done. You have to know my wife to appreciate this story. She is a lawyer, and an ethics officer for a major corporation here in SE Michigan. She is as ethical and honest as they come. I once had a pencil on my pocket that I took home from work and she said that I shouldn't do that. I replied, "Its a 10 cent pencil". She said, "Its still stealing". Get the picture? So, she gets this ticket because I got the windows tinted...well, let just say if it wasn't illegal, she would have strangled me. She got over it...we're cool now. Alfie

I'm so scared to get anything under the legal limit here in NC (35%)... The thing is other people can do it fine because they have subtle cars that blend in with the crowd of other cars...
but a camaro... now that's damn flashy Last edited by RMGee; 11-25-2009 at 05:37 PM. |

I have black interior also and went with the legal side window tint in Florida (35%) on the sides and back. The glass area is so small that even with light tint like this, the car appears very dark inside. Everyone thinks I have 20% so I just say that's what I have. The nice thing is that I can still see out at night!
Plus it's nice to not have to worry about getting a ticket!

I went 5% on the back three and 15% on the two large windows. I'm pictureless on this computer right now, but here is a link to a tinting thread where I posted up some picks.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32687 I really don't have any visibility issues. I would suggest getting the Ceramic Tint though. It's about $100 more, but worth it in my opinion.
