Angry Halo Hell

Just wanted to vent. So after waiting almost a month for the purple halo's to arrive, I take my car in to have them installed today. Since I did not open or read the instructions (why would I since I wasn't going to install them) I did not know that you have to heat up the head lights in the oven to remove the halo's. (what was Chevy thinking?) So after they take the front bumper off and remove the old halo's, which took several hours, they go to install the new halo's and they find one is broken. So here I am 4:30 in the afternoon and can't get a hold of anyone to resolve the problem.
I had to rent a car to get to work today and now I have to pay for the labor that has been done and in the end I will have no purple halo's.
Needless to say I'm returning the halo's and will not attempt that mod again.
Sorry for the rant, but I just had to vent.

I had bad luck with trying to open up the corner lights on my Camry. I wound up cracking the lens and deforming the plastic a bit.

Fortunately I still had my original corner lights, and I have not tried to do this yet again.

At least let your message be a lessons learned for someone to hook up the halos to a 12 volt power source before installing.

Always check the packages step 1.

Very surprised the installer didn't.

Who was doing the install?

Were these from AAC? If so, they have an installer in Austin and I would contact them for a solution. AAC is very good about wanting to help/making things right.

Sorry about your troubles but don't give up just yet! You'll love the mod when done!

Wow that sucks.

I do think you should try again with a different brand though.

Well my car is back together with the old halo's. Morano racing is sending me a replacement halo for the one that is damaged. I think I will just pay the extra money later and just have the dealership put the halo's on.
Really learned an expensive lesson on this one. One day I will have my purple lights.

Thanks for the offer for the drink. I'm sure by Friday I'm going to need it.

Hmm sounds like a less than stellar installer there. He should have checked the lights for shipping damage and powered them up before even starting the install.

It sounds like he charged you for his failure to do his job.

And charge me they did. Still charged me for 4 hours of work since they took everything apart and they claim it's not their fault the part was damaged. Anyway 400.00 out of pocket which I'll never see again. I'm thinking about selling the halo's on ebay when I get the replacement one. Just FYI, I spoke to the dealer and they advised that it is around 400.00 to replace your halo's, and thats labor only. Nice move on Chevy's part to make this not only an expensive part ($189.00 for purple) but also to make it an expensive repair. CAI is going to have to wait another month before I can do that.
Oh well live and learn.
