I don't understand the logic behind only grey. I'll probalby paint mine either black or body color. The thing that is hardest for me to understand though is how much they cost. They're over $2K and they don't com painted!!! For that price they should come painted.

I bought a body kit for my mustang a while ago and it was an entire new front and rear bumper plus the side skirts and the kit was only $1K, and then another $1K or so to have them painted. These GM parts are only small pieces that go on the bottom, not even an completely different bumper, over $2K is way too much...I'm still getting them though

I'm going to see what kind of costs start showing up for aftermarket kits. It'll be easy to find a cheaper kit that's still good quality. The aftermarket companies will probably have color matched sets too that are well under the $2K mark.

I would wait, there will be many ground effects choices soon enough. The only benefit of getting these from the factory is if they would have factory painted them. Not worth the $$$$$ they are charging plus maybe another $750 to paint them.

I just recieved my ground effects on Monday. The dealer let me have them early so I can have them painted. They are dark gray. They dont look like they were painted grey... rather, they look like the actual plastic has a slight metallic flake in it..... but it is, in fact, unfinished plastic (no paint or primer). The exhaust tips are chrome (not dark like the "Black" concept)... so I will probably have them (along with the chrome tailight trim) powder coated to a darker "gun metal" finish.
They come in a 2' x 2' x 8' box. It doesn't weigh much though. The install guide makes it looks like a real pain in the ass to install... requires alot of drilling.... all 4 tires to be removed. It clearly states that it is a 2 person job. I will be taking mine back to the dealer for install.... it looks like $300 of the $2000 cost was purely for install labor. My auto body friend is painting mine for cheap... If any of you are in the southeast and need them painted... I might can hook you up. |

Ordering my car in black, and i don't expect them to entirely match... but i'm not going to paint them. I kind of expect that these things will be some level of protection against both my and other peoples stupid behavior. i figure they're safer to damage than the body, AND if you leave them stock color, you probably couldn't tell.

I got my GFX on Fiday, sending them out Monday to be painted IOM to match the car. I heard install time was 4 hours. Hopefully I will have pictures this time next week.
