If it's truely a design flaw, as others have suggested, replacing it isn't going to solve the problem unless it is being replaced with a better part and/or by better installation procedures.
Guess I'll chalk this up to it being a known issue and wait until hopefully a TSB is issued.

All of you who are "waiting it out" to see if GM comes up with a cure. I wouldn't, you are much better off having it documented via an attempted repair by GM than wait and see. I'm not suggesting Lemon Law (doesn't apply to something like this), but they could say you knew about it and let it go. Just saying... good dealers won't do that but at least for the 2012's it's a partial replacement of a piece and they said it would take about an hour only. So, just get it done at your next oil change or other visit, you know?
Plus, if everyone just sits on it, Chevy will likely NOT come out with an update since they won't see all the orders for this part. |

I just got mine 3 weeks ago and after seeing this thread I checked my dash last night. Sure enough I see and feel the bubbling. Going to take it by the dealer when i get a chance next weekend

Going to the dealer for me is a hassle. You have to wait in a line of cars about 20-30 minutes just to get into the bay to tell them what's wrong, then you're there at least an hour before they come talk to you about the issue.
I only plan to take this car to the dealer if there's an in-warranty failure that I can't avoid having them do. |

I was at my dealer's today getting the first oil change (free--Mobil1) and the recall on the air bag light taken care of. Asked them about the leather on the dash coming loose and they haven't dealt with it yet, but they would check it out.
When the car was finished, my service manager said he ordered a new part for the dashboard. He said apparently the section will pop out and can be replaced. He got the part number from GM and is supposed to arrive in about a week. Right now I'm also expecting the new part to eventually develop the same problem, but at least the dealer is aware of the situation. If/when the new panel starts to come unglued, I'll just take it back again. Hoping for the best, though, along with everyone else whose leather coming loose. I'll gladly let everyone know how it goes with the replacement part when it arrives and is installed. I'm sure hoping this will do the trick.
