Stainless Power HiFlow Cats Yes or no
Hello, I am about to install the LSA Supercharger, 6 rib Pully system on my L99. I am going conservative with my tune. I just wanted to get everyones opinion. I currently have 1 7/8 Stainless Power headers and Hiflow cats. I talked with Stainless and they said my HiFlow cats should be fine. as they are built heavy duty with metal parts not paper inside.. I am not tracking or racing my car just daily driving.. thanks

#1 Question is are required to have an emissions inspection? I did hi-flows with ceramic honeycombs inside and just running a slightly rich or safe nitrous tune managed to blow the the elements out of the housing and managed to wedge themselves into my X-pipe. I would say for any decent power build if you can get away with not having cats, do so.

my kooks high flow cats began to melt at around 700HP.

Lol no paper in the cats? I would hope so! I have never heard of cats with paper in them. Either way when you run more boost you have a higher chance of melting the material inside them no matter how "heavy duty" they are.
Mine is mostly a daily driver and I run no cats. Make sure you get a good tune after you remove the cats. Sometimes you will notice a strong smell of un-burnt fuel and a slightly more raspier exhaust note. |
