USAA has "storage" feature/option that saves 80%

USAA has a "storage" option on active policies if you are not going to drive a car at least the next 28 days. It reduces your premium by about 80% for the affected storage times. Good option for winter months!

I will be using this!

Storage
Insure your stored vehicle with USAA and get a discount on your premium of up to 80%.

Storage discount is not available in CA, HI, MA, NC, NY, PA and VA. To qualify for the discount, the vehicle must not be driven and must be stored in a secure location. Other restrictions apply.

"storage insurance" is basically eliminating the liability portion of the coverage as you won't be driving it. you only keep comprehensive(fire, etc)like I said before. There's usually a minimum term of 30 days to qualify - like if you go to Afganistan - thanks for that!. All companies have this option.

I echo the USAA recommendation. I am retired US Navy and use USAA to insure my ZL1....

It’s not that it’s called protecting your investment. If something happens to your car do you want to get market value for it or Agreed value? Do you want to pay more from a regular insurance company or do you want to pay less for collector car insurance w/ better benefits?

I am all for saving money and getting better coverage and have an agree value for my car not market value.

thanks to this topic, I called my agent and upgraded to declared value of $65k versus market value and gap insurance (to cover the loan) for only $40/year more. Thinking about it now, I should have done it from the beginning...I'm with Encompass.

The best thing is your car is insured for an agreed value not market value. So if you insure the ZL1 for $65k and it's totaled you get $65k.

I have been with Grundy for 9 years

How many vehicles do you need to get insured from them to be eligible for a policy??

I called Grundy a few months back and they said that my two vehicles weren't enough for me to get a policy with them. I wonder if the guy on the phone was just blowing smoke. All I thought you needed to have was a newer primary vehicle, then your "Classic" or "collector" (aka modified Camaro) vehicle.

I have 3 cars 69 Z, 01 Z, and 2010 RS plus my enclosed car hauler. I have been with them since 2004 back then it was 1 car I am not sure if it's more now.

I got $1,308 a year with progressive, about $109 a month. I thought it was pretty good considering, I have a few tickets.

I got an estimate of $493 every 6 months for my ZL1. What model is your $390 for. State Farm will also give discounts for mileage through on-star. My agent said like about 30% for 1500-2000 miles a year.

Okay, thanks Sean. It sounds like its time to call another representative and confirm. Hopefully they can work something out.
