I run the ZL1 diff and axles with a dss driveshaft and am liking it alot.
Check out this http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=445241

Price a little high but maybe could be negotiated.

Or a stock zl1 driveshaft. You need the flange that slides onto the output shaft on the transmission also. It looks exactly like the stock piece but has bigger bolt holes in it. You could drill out the stock one but it also needs to be countersunk because the metal sleeves in that guibo rubber piece slide into it. Easier to just buy one for $75. If you bought a driveshaft from dss they could probably make it to bolt right in

DSS has a driveshaft to go from ss trans to ZL1 diff. 800 bucks.

Does anyone know the estimated HP rating on the ZL1 driveshafts? Know of anyone who's broken one?

I would presume ZL1 rated plus a hundred or two - wouldn't push it too hard. I think I've seen reports of more stock ZL1 axles that have broke than driveshafts.

Roger that. I'm looking into replacing my SS driveshaft/diff/axles w/ stock ZL1 parts, respectively. Wondering how much RWHP the weakest link can handle out of the three ZL1 parts.

I have heard that the zl1 drive shaft requires 14mm bolts. for the trans and diff. Are you saying I can directly bolt in the zl1 drive shaft?

The ZL1 driveshaft (from a ZL1) is not a direct bolt up (to an SS). If you get the GM ZL1 differential conversion kit, then they've changed the flange to mate with the SS (no problem there). And, I've heard you can't really swap half the ZL1 shaft in place to make it fit (from a ZL1 to fit the SS). I've heard you can drill the holes larger in the front flange, but it's a tough effort.
