Anyone running a Meziere Electric Water Pump?

Decided I am going to run a Meziere EWP on my quest for a ~530 rwhp NA H/C build. They were good for about 8rwhp on an ls1 car. Worth 600 bucks?...I doubt it...but they look good and keep the motor running cooler.

I am getting conflicting information depending on where I try and order this part. Some websites say you need nothing extra (on mezieres website they say everything included). Others say you need an old school small block chevy thermostat. Some say you need an entirely different thermostat housing. And yet others say you need a 160 thermo.

No sure what all I need for the install. Does anyone know? Maybe depending on who sells them they come with different parts for the install?

thanks, Troy

Your stock thermostat and housing is fine, though this is a good time to do a 160* thermostat.

I am happy with this mod at my power levels. It is good for drag racing and daily driving. It would not be good for road racing where you spend a lot of time near redline.

When I drag race, I am able to "hot lap" the car easily, starting each race at 180* and cooling back down to 180* by the time I drive back to the staging lanes. I can also turn on the pump while the engine is off but the ignition is on. That also helps during cool down times.

You should notice an improvement in MPG as well. With an underdrive pulley, expect 10-12rwhp.

I would go right ahead with the 160 T-Stat...but some on here think it is a bad idea for a daily driven car......?

Once you actually see how it works, in action, you'll have no worries. Main purpose of the T-Stat and EWP and programmng the fans is to keep the coolant temp in a certain range and more consistent. Though it is set to open at 160*, my temps with the EWP and fan programming are at 180* when idling, and around 196* when cruising. IOW, perfectly within operating range. Those who say the 160* T-Stat is not good imagine it will somehow keep daily drive temps at around 160*, and that is simply not the case on the LS3's. Maybe it was true in the SBC days, but we're fine.

Cool. Thanks for the info.
I emailed meziere and they said the only other thing I will need is a relay. They sell a kit with this relay and some wiring. Do u know anything about this?

Thanks again

Well, I had John at Atlanta Performance and Fab (sponsor) wire mine differently. It is wired so that it is on whenever the engine is running and can be commanded on when the engine is off and ignition is on. As I said, this helps cooling between runs at the track.

I suck at wiring, but I'm sure I could have done a relay with instructions with Meziere. I could not have done what John did - that took more knowledge than simply instructions. But it can be done.

As stated it will come with everything you need except a relay. Tensioner spacer, gaskets, spacers, bolts, heater hose fittings. Use your stock t-stat or upgrade, stock housing or upgrade, and factory upper and lower hoses. If you wire to a selectable switch I highly recommend some sort of idiot light that is illuminated when the pump is off so you don't forget about it.

GM High- Tech Performance just did an install of the Meziere ewp and ATI underdriven damper on a cammed 2010 ls3 and picked up almost 18 rwhp and a little over 17 lb-ft! Not bad for mods that won't hurt drivability and don't require a tune. Find it in the April 2012 issue

Where did you find one for only $600? I can't find them for under $850.

A website had the wrong part number. They advertised the EWP fitting the 2010 camaro but it was the ls1 car part number.

~850 is the price for the 2010+ camaro Meziere EWP.

Make sure you ask them if that is for the 2010+ part number. That was the same pic used on another website (and about the same price) and it was for an ls1 car. The 2010+ EWP doesnt come in different colors...just plain billet as far as I know.

The part number for the 2010+ camaro EWP is wp329. On the blu808 website it says part number 396...which may just be a generic number for their website...but just make sure.

In the product description it talks about wp319 as well...which is the part number for an ls1 car.
