Is it the amp, the BCM, or something else?

Pulled the 2011 SS out for the summer driving period. 20 minutes down the road the radio starts fading in and out (Sound). Does it on every source from iPhone to FM to AM. Turn the stereo off then I here a rhythmic pooping. Sound coming from all the speakers. Go home and check fuses, grounds, etc. popping goes away and now only the left front speaker pays full range. All the others sound muffled like Charlie Brown’s teacher. I’ve pulled the dash apart, checked wires for signs of shorts, tested and fully charged the battery, pulled the infamous white wire from the connector to the faceplate. Nothing has solved so far. I’m thinking the amp gave up but would like to confirm before I Spring money for the ******** FARK and new aftermarket amp.

Any other ideas and troubleshooting I could do without springing money and definitely without going to the dealership? Thanks.

Sounds like the amp to me at least. I would see if you find someone local who might have a stock one and see if you could try it.

Yeah that’s the way I am leaning. Just more proof that cars don’t like to sit and should be driven!

I will tell you that in October I replaced my amp with an aftermarket and man what difference. I did replace the head unit as well. I did the head unit first and it sounded terrible. If your going to redo the head unit, do the amp. Save yourself some time and do it all.

Yeah I haven’t seen anything I like that doesn’t destroy the look of the car. Plus I don’t drive it enough on the road to warrant the expense. Wouldn’t mind upgrading the amp if it solves the problem. My hi-fi days are long gone. I’ve got some old Soundstream Reference amps laying around fr9m those days but they are too big to fit discretely in the trunk. Recommendations for a good 4 channel amp I can still put behind the carpet?

Buy the harnessed from the site you mentioned above and also get the amp mounting board. You will also need an amp wiring kit. I think I bought an 8 gauge kit.

Yeah those 2 original kits that came out seemed to be garbage. Plagued with problems. This kit isn’t bad. Not my DD either. But looks the most factory.

Pac Audio Kit. There are 2 versions now. When you look up the model number the one that ends in 102 I think doesn’t require you to have the stock radio to swap the AC controls. They come preinstalled. You just have to push a plastic center button in if you have the heated seats or not.
