Looks kosher. You could get it done cheaper if you found a butcher shop that would just paint it on the car and blend that roof molding, leaving paint edges and a blend area to fade quickly. Just pay the shop, and be glad it didn't take out the windshield too, it came close!

Thank you. Amen to that man.

Coming from someone who's had a lot of paint work done, it looks pretty good to me. It sucks, but that's the price of having things done right.

Hey guys. First off my apologies if this is in the incorrect forum. To make a long story short. I was driving on the highway when a bolt that was kicked up by another car comes flying at my car and strikes the right side of my car and deflects into my side mirror. Deep scratches and scuffs to the panel and passenger side mirror.

Took my car to the body shop and get the following estimate to repair. They said they need to remove sand down, paint and clear coat the ENTIRE panel to fix it. The mirror they would take off and repaint which is expected. However for the other two scratches to my surprise it was MUCH more involved. Dropping bumper to be able to remove panel and like I said sanding down repainting and clearcoating the entire thing for those 2 points of contact.
I'm no paint expert or repair expert which is why I'm asking for your advice. Am I getting ripped off? Thanks everyone for any advice you can provide.

Um, maybe I'm misreading the pictures because they are so close, or I'm misreading your description.

The damage appears to me to be to the A Pillar and Mirror, but I could be looking at that second picture wrong. But then they're dropping the rear bumper and repairing the quarter.

So they are pulling the rear bumper, the mirror, and some trim per the estimate. No body panels are coming off from what I could see. But ~$800 for a ding on the side plus a mirror repaint seems appropriate. I'm sorry if I'm just being dense, maybe the estimate-writer wasn't being clear?

Depending on insurance plan you have... your Comprehensive insurance deductible could be only $100

I was recently sprayed by pebbles on my '02 I could not get a plate # and so $3,500 later I paid $100 to get it fixed.

If you have a decent insurance company

Comprehensive will not raise your rate. Use it

Boom. Spot on. That's how it is with my policy. Insurance companys know how to rip people off but they also want to keep you around. If they raise your pricing up over stuff you have no control over, customers will walk. At least I hope they would.

At least it didnt fly at an angle and come into the car getting medical insurance involved... My girlfriend's dad had a rock fly into the open back passenger window of his 4runner and left an ugly scuff on the seat back. Could have put out an eye or taken out a tooth. A flying bolt...

My aunt had a license plate fall off a boat being towed by a truck on the interstate one time, sliced right through the hood of her car...there is some dangerous stuff out there on the roads. Glad you were safe and paying for damages really sucks. I have a wrinkle in my front end from a driving error I made and have yet to get it looked into.
