how many canceling stripes b/c not long enough?

how many of u are holding off b/c stripes do not extend far enough on the front? i am canceling m order 4 black stripes since they do not go over the mailslot. i can't believe that gm doesn't notice that the stripes look so much better as seen on their concepts..not just the hood

get them painted then, if you talk to your dealer you could probably get it packaged into your sale and your loan

I'm considering changing my order to delete the stripes for that very reason. I don't think they look right stopping at the hood line. I figure they are doing it that way because it's easier to install, but just because something is harder to do it doesn't mean you should take the easy way out...

yup going to change my order and stripe it myself... i will be using vinyl... if it can't be done i'll go ahead and paint them on....

i like vinyl only because you can always remove them if i really don't like them or the color (black, gray, white... )

You can bet that the aftermarket will offer just about any stripe you want. As an example this place offers some nice stripe packages for the Challenger and will be doing the Camaro also. The white Challenger with the black side and hood stripes looks great. By the way I'm not endorsing this business.

I'm also changing my order and having the stripes taken off. A good friend of mine has already told me that he can either paint the stripes that I want on or even do the vinyl ones. I would normally be leary about doing this as aftermarket, but he does some damn nice work!!! Plus it will save me some $$$.

I have a question that kinda relates to what has been said. How easy is it to put on your own stripes?

And also say if you get a new camaro with stripes and don't like them after a while, you can take them off, do a little waxing, and the car should look like it's all one color right?

do we have proof that the stripes will fall short? Link? Anybody? And which ones? Factory or dealer installed?

If you can find that MSNBC video on the Camaro...you'll have to scan through it until it shows ED Welburn with a Silver Camaro + black stripes in a studio. It shows what the rally stripes will most likely look like....I used that video to make this PS of mine.

I imagine this has more to do with the ability to manufacture/apply and still maintain predictable quality. Imagine trying to fold and stick the vinyl stripes into that mail slot. It would be pretty difficult, right? And then you have the issue of having two different front facias...when you're trying to cut costs to keep a vehicle inexpensive -- are you going to have two different stripe decals designed (one for LS/LT cars, and one for SS cars)?? I agree, the concept's looks better...but there are many reasons for choosing this route.

Why would the image showing the stripe packages that came straight from GM not be what we actually get.

That clearly shows the rally stripes going past just the hood.

A good point also is if you want stripes along the roof, get them aftermarket. You want the same person to do the whole car instead of trying to match something already half completed. It would be like getting a brand new car in orange, then getting a scrape along the side and having a new door spot matched. The fade of the paint around it can't be duplicated.

If you have the after market or dealer paint your stripes, pick one or the other and have them do everything instead of going to two different places.
