I, too, noticed that. I don't think that's a bad number. That's a lotta' car to move. I'm more curious to learn what the rags' get in the 1320. I can take that information and lop a few tenths off that from what a real driver can do

I think the number is good. $.5 would have been amazing buti dont think anyone should complain about the 4.6 or 4.7. Besides, just throw in some light modifications and im sure you can shave a point second or so

"The Grand National was an indication that America was reentering the muscle car market. At first, these cars were not that fast compared with today's standards but that wasn't really the point. We had just come out of the 70s' gas crisis and an era of anemic American cars. However, in 1987 Car & Driver clocked a GNX's 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds which is supercar territory today; fast by any standards."
http://rooshfive.blogspot.com/2007/0...c-car-and.html Come on guys...4.7 is wicked fast.

Everybody calm down, That is what they are offically advertising, but it will be faster than that with a good driver on a good day. I saw an interview with a camaro enginer at SEMA, Who said exactly just that. I will look for the link.

If the GXP got a 4.6, a 4.5 shouldn't be out of the question.

C'mon guys. Its not 4.7. Dodge said the SRT8 Challenger would do 5.1. Motortrend got 4.7. So I'd say the SS would do 4.5 with Motortrend drivers.
BTW, if it is 4.7, thats the same time as a $100,000+ Aston Martin V8 Vantage. |

And I would respectfully suggest that if you took 100 Camaro enthusiasts - or any high-performance car enthusiasts - and let them get behind the wheel and nail the throttle, 98 of those 100 people couldn't tell the difference between 0-60 in 4.5, 4.6 or 4.7 seconds.
Besides, 4.7 seconds is nothing to feel bad about. Of the myriad things I'll evaluate my Camaro on - handling, braking, performance, looks, comfort, etc. - 0-60 time by itself is pretty far down on the list. |
