Factory Gas Cap is driving me crazy every time I refuel because it hang/hits paint
I am about to cut the stupid plastic cord on the gas cap because its so distorted i cant get the cap to stay on the little recess on the door. so everytime i refuel the guys let it hang and its starting to leave marks in my paint from the friction. If there is some magical method to this please let me know. stupid design if you ask me
Options I am thinking about is removing the cord so the cap can just be taken off completly and put on the side of the gas pump until filled or make some sort of a more flexible cord to attach to the cap so i can rest it. Am I the only one with this complaint? |

it annoys me too.
somewhere here there is a link to a cool gas cap holder that sticks to the lid. Thinking about getting one. |

Just hang it over the door instead of on the mini hook.....problem solved.

Hey Guys,
I had the same problem for a long time until I finally noticed a small hook on the inside of the door cover that you can loop the 1/8" round plastic connector line for the cover. When hooked, the cap doesn't hit the car anywhere. Let me know that you have found what I am describing.

Post #3 works. It's how I fill up. Just turn the gas cap around so the side you touch with your hand is resting against the outside face of the gas cap door. It's easy, it works, and it doesn't cost a thing...

Take a thin cable tie and make a loop around the cord on the gas cap. Put the loop around the hook on the door. You could also use string, or twine.

I have the same problem. I think it is becasuse the plastic cord is too short and is not flexible. I just hang it over with the outside of the cap on the filler door. It is a bug GM needs to address for the next build.

That little hook on the back of the gas door is useless. I just gently let my gas cap hang down. Yes it touches the paint but with some care there is no reason it should damage the paint.

SIMPLE: get the gas pump in one hand, take off the gas cap with other hand. Hold on to the cap while puting the pump in the tank and then when ready to fuel up, just wrap the gas cap over the pump handle...when done, grab the cap, take out the pump, put cap on and then put pump away....woohoo
