LS3 fuse pull

I am not sure after reading many threads, do you need to disconnect the battery to reset the timing table in the fuse pull? It would seem to me from what little I know about the way the tuning memory works that disconnecting the battery would not matter. Is this correct?

Also how long should the back up power last in the capacitors? Do I need the fuses out for an hour, longer? I see people saying they pull the fuses for as long as 24 hours, this seems ridiculous to me since as soon as the backup power is used the memory would clear and any time beyond this is of no benefit. Does anyone know how long is necessary?

Thanks,

This is only for the L99 (which is automatic). If you have the LS3 (manual) then the fuse pull isnt necessary

With the LS3 you just disconnect your battery!

Send a message via AIM to SSTony
it works if you need the computer to relearn airflow and some other stuff.

Took my LS3 out of storage a few weeks ago, put fresh 93 octane in it and also put my Cold Air Inductions intake on the car. I did the fuse pull but it was hard for me to tell the difference because I added the intake...

I can say it didnt hurt it....

Guys does this fuse pull even need to be done? Im not sure about it. I went with the dealer and put in premium, when i filled it up with him she was running on fumes, damn low fuel light came on every 2 mins. So I know the right gas was in there from the start. I also did Darin's hard break in method for the first 550 miles, never tried to drive the shit outta it yet, but she definately has some pull. I took off TC and pinned it around a corner and she went a little sideways haha. Should I bother with the fuse pull or should my car be set. Any signs of "low performance that I can notice if It needs a fuse pull"

from my understanding, and I could be wrong, the fuse pull is used to make your computer re-learn the air/fuel mix if you've changed something that would effect it. I.e. CAI, Intake, Cam, Supercharger etc.

if you've been using the same octane fuel since the beginning, your computer should have learned it by now and there would be no need to do a fuse pull.

Mine was built in Early Feb. Do you know if it is considered an "early" build or is it a "self correcting" one?

excited to test this (fuses currently pulled). I have thought at times that I wasn't getting the most out of the car. I have always put 93 octane in, however when i bought it the dealer filled it with the cheap stuff! Hopefully it will feel like I'm driving a new car later today...will keep you updated.
Also, thanks to all of you that post information like this. Very helpful to those of us that are clueless.

OK I just recently heard about this and did some reading but not all the threads, I have done some tuning before on my truck which is a 99Silverado with the 5.3. I had copied the high octane table to the low. Now my question is when I got my car "if" it had 87 octane in it, and i never ran it hard enough for it to have knock would it go to the low octane table? I haven't done the fuse pull on it and I haven't plugged the computer into it yet either. So how do I know if it's stuck in the low octane table.
