Regulations in Rhode Island
What's up everyone!!?
I was wondering if anyone could help me out knowing better about the regulations for the window tints and inspection regulations RI has regarding also exhaust noise? I just moved into the state and I want to increase the noise of my exhaust and tint my windows, front and back. I looked into some laws but they are very complicated in my opinion, since I am also a foreigner... Thanks for the help Once you turn into Muscle Cars... You never go back |

your local tint place out to know, just tell them to make it as dark as they can and keep it legal.

All non factory tint is not legal on front door windows and windshields. I have 15% all around with just the visor of the windshield tinted. Oh well.

RI tint laws are though in RI. I believe it has to have 75% visibility all around which means any tint at all is breaking the law. You could get by with an AS1 on the front but more tha that ad they can bust your Ballz. If you went light they might leave you alone. I know for a fact Paul's been harassed for his. lol As for exhaust that's a grey area. As long as you have cats and you aren't throwing codes you should be fine for inspection (off road pipes might squeak through). I have BBK LT's with High flows and a Corsa catback. It's not bad at idle so normally there's no issues, but when you give it some throttle it gets LOUD! When I first put the LT's on I got pulled over twice in the first week because they assumed I was speeding from a stop. Now I slowly pull away and short shift when I see cops just in case.

all Tint is illegal in RI on cars, SUV's can have factory tint from the rear passenger door windows back, I have 5%
as for the exhaust I have not been bothered and my SS is very loud , I guess it depends where you live, which part of RI do you live?

What about suspension? How low can a car be from the road and still be legal?

Tint is illegal period. But officers have told me they wont pull you over JUST for tint. Now if you have no front tag, loud exhaust, tint and are weaving around in traffic expect to get pulled over.
Keep in mind, I have 30% on all sides, no cats, long tubes, no resonators just mufflers and no front tag and I have yet to get pulled over. But I also have a military sticker on my car and NY plates so go figure Ken

Also, if you want to register and inspect your car in RI get your tint AFTER you are inspected. Most places won't give you a sticker with tint. But there are places that will pass you with tint for a little extra, PM me and I'll send you the shop my buddy uses.
Ken

Paul I give you respect for having the balls to put blue tint on your lights. It directly says in the RI inspection laws you can't have blue or red lights on your car (other than tail lights for red) because that is reserved for police and rescue/fire. That being said, it looks clean as heck like that. Just keep your headlights on and you should be all set! Ken
