Thanks for the write up. I want some of those mods and I am looking to cut some weight..
Question
I had a 11lbs braille battery in my last car (SRT4) it was fine in summer but when winter came it wouldnt last over night.. Braille did exchange free of charge for the 15lbs battery.. How is that battery holding up on Camaro? Does it get cold where you are?

Yeah me too. Frank from DSS is working on re-designing the CF shaft to reduce weight. With the help of 3M he found out the original issue with mine so there won't be any glue failures in the future.

The temps don't get cold-cold here like it does in NY; we get down to the low 40's maybe during winter. I've not had a single issue with the 15 lb battery so far. I thought about the 11 lb but decided 4 lbs of weight wasn't going to make any noticeable difference; mine is a street car, not a full-out race car. I almost went with the 21 lb originally but after studying the specs decided I'd give the 15 a try and so far it's worked out great.

I went with the 21. Still a 25-lb savings. We have been having some wicked winters, so perhaps it will help then. But I still have the stocker just in case.

Hi Doc!!!

I have been a fan of your thread and I am impressed how you have shaved weight off the car. I got a set of Lightweight Forgeline Wheels and started to look for those lightweight racing wheel lug nuts. Do you happen to remember from who you bought them from? Was it speedmotoring?

How are the wheel lug nuts doing? Are they good quality? I am concern of the ones I found to be from China and bad quality?

Here is the link for the ones I found if you interested in looking

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20PC-...Q5fAccessories

Thanks for your time.

Yeah that looks like the place. So far so good; haven't had any problems with them. While looking for things "lightweight" I found a place that has just about every kind of style there is, and in our sizes too!

And thank you for the compliments.

I hear the SS badges are hard to paint for some reason - I wonder if there are any overlays?

Car is good. I haven't done anything with it in awhile because I've been working on my other project car; a 1972 Lotus Europa Twincam. Been restoring it and getting it ready for paint and the interior redone.

When a kid (little kid) a neighbor had one of those - it was a dark green. Thought it was the coolest/fastest car on the planet back then. They were fast looking just sitting there.

I've been a Lotus fan since I first saw Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) driving a Lotus Elan in the Avenger's back in the 60's. There was a guy who had a blue Europa in the town I lived in and I happened to drive by his house one day and he was there working on it so I stopped and got a personal tour of it. Wanted one ever since.

Here's what it looked like when I picked it up:

I'm going to get it painted in the black and gold John Player Special colors of the Lotus Formula 1 championship racing cars of the day.

I know it's not a Camaro or muscle car; it's an old British sports car, but if anyone's interested I've started a project thread on a Lotus forum:

http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f120...begins-103083/

I should take a shot of it next to my Camaro for a size comparison; they're rather small. You thread yourself in and out of one, but back in the day it could do .95 g on a skid pad and was quite the road champ.

Here's a shot of the two. The Lotus is a little mid-engine two-seater. The top is barely above the edge of the windowsill on the Camaro!
