Want to paint my wheels but...

they're the polished 20" wheels. What kind of prep is needed for these?

Would I be better off taking them to a shop over the winter and having them painted/powder coated? Some areas of the clear coat are starting to crack and get nasty

If you have the money to spare ($150 per wheel or so?) then powder coating is the way to go.
