LED Assist-Cupholder Delete/ Console Cover - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

What's Up Camaro 5 Crew. I've debated about sharing my console cover with you all for a little while now, wasn't sure if I wanted to share or not. I was just looking at a fellow member's Leather covered Console Cover, and figured.. what the heck, a little friendly competition is never a bad thing, and what the heck.. if I dont share it with you guys, no one else will ever see it. So.. here we go.

Manual Transmission + Camaro's Cupholder = P.I.T.A.

So.. I dont use it. But every once in awhile, the wife will stick a drink in there.. and my only response is.. Really? So.. rather than being "That Husband", I decided to just cover it up.

I had already installed L.E.D.'s in the cupholders with a friends help while we were installing the footwell lighting. And since I LOVE having light.. covering up the LED's wasnt an option.. so why not USE the light to add to the design?

I figured out the shape of the area, and made a plexiglass panel to fit snugly in there, then laid out my design with Vinyl, applied it to the plexiglass, sprayed over it, then removed the vinyl, leaving that area clear beneath it. The clear spots allow the light to come through, and to sort of "Shape" the light you see.. I think it's a Shape you might recognize. Muahahah.

I couldn’t be happier with the result.

If you look at the picture of just the panel lit up, you can see where the cupholder sits beneath it, the dark spots are where the cup holders block the light. Thats my only complaint with it. I wasnt about to cut out the actual cupholders though, no matter how much I dont like them. Resale value and all..
