No matter how you slice it upgrading for me on a cost/value basis just does not fly. As My car ages, it is worth less.

My "Z" fund currently is going to supporting three graduate degrees. To me right now this i more important that scratching my itches.

I will have to be happy having near LS7 Z28 performance without the badge or the magic 427.

Strange, if you look at the numbers, my cheapest route to a Z28 would be for me to sell my LS3 and install an LS7 on my own.

If a 1LE is a really good car with 426 hp, what would it be like with 475-505 hp? And will it "fit" between a 1LE and ZL1, price-wise AND performance-wise?

Boss ? 1LE

There may be different answers in different places. The best the 1LE can hope for:

Road Course: 1LE > Boss
Drags: Boss > 1LE

But this is the Z28 forum so I predict:

Road Course: Z28 > Boss
Drags: Z28 > Boss

Are you refering to that video of a street race that began circulating recently?

If so, rumour also has it that while the ZL1 was stock, the Boss was not.

The 1LE is not as good as the ZL1!! It has a lot of the performance handling package of the ZL1, but not all.
for 1, It does not have the Magnetic Ride of the ZL1.

<Hypothetical rumor>True, the Boss wasn't stock, but it wasn't heavily modified either. What an intake, x-pipe, and tune? I don't think it's pushing out the horsies that a ZL1 is.<Hypothetical rumor>

Ok, maybe the 1LE just can't possibly be as good as a ZL1 for sole purpose of having a hierarchy. But the ZL1 is sort of underachieving, as far as hype and expectations, as of right now. I know, I just blasphemed the face of the mighty one.

Anyway, write this down. When the Z28 comes out it will be better than the ZL1.

It can't be that hard, they dropped an LSA into a Camaro. The LS7 doesn't have the supercharger to deal with.

We have heard on this site that you can't just plug and play drivetrains into a vehicle. It can definitely be done. If its profitable, lives up to expectations in performance and price and fits in the Camaro lineup there's a good chance we will see a Z28.
