Auto because I don't need to over compensate for anything. Plus a computer will shift faster and more precise than any human out there....PERIOD! The horsepower advantage is lost with the lag time between shifts.

Would love to have gotten a manual, but I'm spoiled, and would rather have the remote start for winter. That and the rush hour traffic sucks with a manual, and I drive a lot in that mess. This is a daily driver, but if I had a week-end play vehicle it would be a manual. Oh wait, I do. A motorcycle.

auto

Because I like it and its fast enough for me and I do not care what anyone thinks I will put my fast auto up against any fast manual any day of the week.

Manual. No one ever taught me how to drive an automatic.

Having the remote start in the winter was also another reason I went with an Auto, and driving a stick in the snow sucks, well it does for me. I always lets the clutch out too fast and spin my tires. Besides, trying to change cds, text on the phone, smoke cigarettes and shift is too much for me.

Manual is all I have ever really drove. The only automatic that I have had was my '97 Chevy 3500 dually, but I sold it to my dad before I ever drove it(had him buy it for me while I was in Iraq but sold it to him when I got the Camaro). Overall I just enjoy driving a stick a lot more so then auto's, more control as well.

In theory, yes. In practice, no. You have to tune the automatic as it comes from the factory to get it to shift faster. GM themselves claim the automatic runs 13.3 in the quarter vs 12.9 for the manual on the 2013's. It's possible GM is wrong, but I doubt it.

Actually with manual mode and paddle shifters more control is no longer a factor.

So someone with an auto in manual mode with paddle shifting, can they be faster than a manual transmission?

Perhaps your right, as iv never driven with paddle shifters but its still not my cup of tea. Maybe one of these days ill stop at the dealership and test drive one and use the paddle shifters.
