SLP/increase HP Question

Is the SLP performance pac. for 400 HP a good investment? Or are there other ways to increase HP for a stock 2000 Z28 that will be better than the SLP package?

Not worth it IMO. Dont need the MAF or the rockers arms and the headers hang down too low and are a bitch to install (no F-Body LTs are a picnic to install but the SLPs have got to be the worst). I have Pacesetter LTs and OR Y on my car now and love them. They tuck up nicely, install pretty easily and dont cost an arm and a leg. If you're only looking for 400hp at the crank, basic bolt-ons will get you pretty close, throw and LS6 intake into the mix and you're there. Plus, 4th gen LS1s were underrated from the factory anyway, dont need a whole lot to hit the 400hp mark.

I don't like loud mouth exhaust, it's way too loud. Doubt they still sell it, but SLP Center Mount Exhaust will always be my favorite sound for an LS1.

What he said. Instead of the Pacesetters though, (no offense Chocolate), I would go with the KOOKS or Stainless Works for headers and some basic bolt-ons and the LS6 intake or a FAST intake. Don't forget the tune!!
GOOD LUCK!

I agree, Kooks and SW are probably the best headers out there, but you're gonna pay for it. But if you have the cash you might as well do it right the first time.

not for that price,

go with a set of coated pacesetter LTs with ORY from www.herronperformance.com
get a head/cam setup from Advanced Induction, keep your stock MAF (aftermarket ones are a pain to tune with)
the loudmouth catback is nice tho.

but you can get 400rwhp a lot cheaper than that.

They don't make and sell the CME anymore. You can find used ones over on ls1tech and ebay but they are pricey. I love my CME, but idk if its the best sound for an LS1, its a little quiet even with my headers. Definately the best looking exhaust though.

Would I be able to use this in a camaro?
I don't know alot about uprading cars, so I will need help in deciding what to buy.
Links to products would be helpful.

Serious overkill there, if you had a high dollar, big cube (400+ cubes) LSX then I'd say go for it. Honestly, if you're going to stay with a stock sized LS1 then even the FAST 92mm setup can be a bit much. Spend 300 bucks on a used LS6 manifold, get a ported stock throttle body (got mine from 99BLANCOSS on LS1Tech). Do you want 400HP at the crank or the wheels? If you want 400 at the wheels you're looking at around 500 at the crank depending if you're auto or stick. Also, what is the car used for? Is it a daily driver or just something you play with on the weekends? Do you want a nice, smooth idle or something that shakes the whole car when it idles (like mine ) There are a lot of variables, including the amount of money you want to throw at it. It's just a matter of figuring out all your goals that way it's easier to point you in the right direction.

serious overkill. just that intake wont net you enough power. (tho for the money spent on it, you would think it would)

Check out SLP Loudmouth II. Just enough roar without being an intrusive noise. Here's a couple examples

I know she's starting hard in the first vide, needed a new fuel pump, which she has now, and starts right up
